I had expected this string to be a little firmer than it is, but that's not necessarily a disadvantage as I wanted to use it for crocheting various small items. The fact that it's soft and pliable actually makes it ideal for drinks bottle holders. I've also used it for a small storage basket which looks great but isn't as firm as I would have liked. Working with two strands is a simple enough solution.The strong is smooth and soft which makes it easy on the hands when used for crochet. It's strong and doesn't pull apart or fray.

Growing up there was always at least one ball of it in a drawer & it got use for all sorts. Then it seemed to fall out of favour. Maybe it's with everyone doing more crafts & cooking/baking that it's having a renascence. Around the farm we always had at least a few good feet of string in a pocket as you had so many uses for it throughout the day.The string itself is wound onto a cardboard tube. You get 200m/656' of 2mm undyed & unbleached cotton string. It has all sorts of used from tying up plants, crafts, cooking to brown paper packages tied up with strings, but those are just a few of my favourite things.I tend to use it when I'm cooking. It takes butchers knots [& other types well] & wont taint the food taste or colour wise. Bear in mind it doesn't have a coloured stripe t it like some modern butchers twine so don't forget to remove it before serving. It also doesn't expand or shrink in the heat so your meat will come out the shape you intended. It also doesn't often & stretch in hot water so if you're using it on a pudding basin or clootie you can happily use it as a handle. I've been really happy with it so far.At 200m/656' it should last the average person/family a long time & at just over 3 pence per meter it's cheap enough to use for various cord based crafts. Price at time of writing is £6.59.

The yarn is the color we expected. It is soft and durable. It works well as doll hair as well!

Good value for the money and length of string per roll.I use only natural materials for packaging my small business’ products, and I have been searching for a cotton string that would compliment my logo and branding without costing me as much as the other I had been buying (blue/white 8 ply).This string is great!One thing to note, it frets more so than other string I’ve bought, but for the cost and esthetics I will continue to purchase this one!Though it is twice as much length as I was getting with the other string I used to use, I still wish it was available to purchase on a bigger spool!
