FTCE Elementary Education K-6 Study Guide: Test Prep and Practice Questions for the Florida Teacher Certifications Examinations

I ended up passing the exam so I guess the book worked okay. I am a secondary teacher but the state I moved to required me to take an elementary exam foto supplement my specialty subject. The questions were definitely similar. Not the same, but similar. I felt generally prepared walking in, but I am a decent test taker. Its a little bizarre that none of these books are what the test actually is. Does that not seem strange ????? What is so hard about it. I couldve made a book myself after having taken the damn test. Thats all anyone needs to do, so why can't these companies get their hands on a test? This is the closest one I've found though, so I'll hand it them

Unlike some of the people that wrote reviews here (who were asked to write honest reviews, which I was not), I actually took this test after studying the material from this book, and I find that that this book is not horrible, but it isn't the best in the whole world. After taking the test, I find that the social science and reading portions were weak. Especially, the social science section. There was absolutely nothing on the test from this book. I studied this section thoroughly and was so confident only be disappointed and blind-sighted. The science section is awesome through. I passed this section easy. The tests at the back of the book are really good as well. I'm not one to write reviews, but I had to because I just kept thinking that if I had read this, I would have done things differently.

It contains questions just like the Florida exam. It helped so much since the questions were similar to those on the exam.

This book is not accurate to the Language Arts/Reading portion of the FTCE test. Did not connect with the actual questions on the test given by Pearson in Florida.

It's been about 9 years since I had to take an exam and I bought this study guide, crammed for a week and passed all four subtests! Thank you for such an amazing study guide!

I have a Bachelors and Masters in another field and have been working for 20 years. I'm in the process of making a career change to Elementary Education. I had only a few weeks to brush up on the four subject areas and prepare for the K-6 test. While I realize I didn't set aside quite enough study time, having done very well in the past on the GMAT using similar types of study guides I thought I'd do fine. The entire introductory section on learning theory is useless and not covered on the exam. The Language Arts and Reading section falls very short of what is needed to pass this exam. To me, this was by far the trickiest part of the exam for someone without a formal education degree or experience as it asks many questions that can be interpreted more than one way (i.e. what is the best teaching approach for xyz). The Social Studies section was good (not my strong suit and I was able to brush up quickly and memorize the relevant material) and the Math piece was adequate for someone who already has a solid math foundation. I can't speak to the Science section as I didn't have time to study it before taking the exam.
