Nothing special . Average sharpener . The "fine hone" stones look rather thin and will probably only hold up to light use . Probably why they include an extra set .

I had my doubts, but was pleasantly surprised at how well it works. It's small but solid and easy to use. I had been looking to replace some carving knives but now I don't have to. Works on both straight and serrated knives. It comes with a replacement stone which is a bonus.
