After all the film reviews here...this DVD transfer sucks!!!! Thanks for telling me guys!
Why is it all the reviews here are ABOUT THIS MOVIE and NOT ABOUT THE PRODUCT being advertised? I agree this is a classic slasher flick from the past, but come on people! Amazon is showing us a "Beyond Terror" edition DVD of Massacre at Central High. It IS NOT a 'print' of the film itself. Since I like this movie a lot and it is not available here in the states on DVD or blu-ray, I risked buying this UK version from a company I know nothing about. Man did I ever get screwed over. THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST DVD I HAVE EVER VIEWED-EVER!!! I have been on DVD bandwagon since inception in March 1997 here in Texas and this is not up to DVD standards! This company should be ashamed of themselves for ripping us consumers off. Who cares if it's 'uncut'? It looks to have been transfered from an EP (slowly recorded) VHS tape with tracking problems and all. Color (what color there is) shifts constantly, some occasions even looking black and white! I don't mind the full screen (square) picture, but a widescreen version whould have cropped off the bottom of frame because it is bending all the time and is VERY annoying. Just horrible transfer of this classic. I wish people (as I always do in my reviews) would review the quality of the product itself and not rate the movie itself. It is not fair to us who want decent quality for our hard earned dollars. This will be the last "Beyond Terror" title I will purchase and Amazon should pull crap like this or look over the products they are selling. Sorry I can't give this the usually high rating I give in my reviews, it was hard to give it two stars. That's for the movie itself and zero stars for the DVD. Shameful!! Does anyone know of a decent transfer of this movie on DVD? Would like to hear from you.

Good guy goes psycho
New guy at college doesn't want to join a gang of bullies & after a fight he ends up crippled. They then pay with their lives in imaginative deaths. The bullied become the bullied, so they too must die, and so on. Watched literally there are huge plot holes but apparently this is a film with a message. The deaths are pretty good, though not terribly gory, acting is OK, fair bit of nudity but the picture quality looks like VHS on this release.

A low budget shocker but the real shocker is the quality of this DVD
A great film, low budget and a little amateurish at times (watch for that sound boom that keeps dipping into the shot) but it holds up well even if the latter part is over the top. If cult movies are your bag you will enjoy this. This is really let down by the immensely bad quality of this DVD, transfered from a dodgy well-worn video tape (you even get a couple of sequences where the tracking goes out of line!) with shoddy packaging - the inlay is too big for the case and is all creased, plus there are some laughably bad spelling mistakes (athlectics, methords etc)! Ignore the picture on the cover too, there are no mad axeman scenes in this film!

You Can Beat A Bit Of Bully!
An athletic starter at a new school, unimpressed by the current regime of bullying, takes it upon himself to make a one man stand, only to get crippled in the process. Afterwards, he systematicaly takes out the culprits one by one in a singular display of unknown vigilante vengeance only to realise that his work maybe a nonstop venture in destruction, as the previous bullies' shoe size fit all...Amateur American effort from the mid 70's that doesn't quite fulfil the expectations of its title, in a good way, as this isn't a slasher flic! Instead, a neat little revenge thriller..The cast do a really good job considering their age and although the film making is at times lousy (watch for the boom mic), it doesn't detract from what i consider to be one of the best low budget, teen horror flicks of all time! The melodrama ballad music and direction is matinee at times but it somehow gels together a real Californian high school thriller that i have come back to (since the early 80s pre~cert on Merlin Video?) time and time again. The murders aren't in anyway visceral but the highschool terrorist story and two dimensional characters are a joy, given its political~social commentary on life in an 'institution' scenario. . . Similar in some ways to the fun comedy Heathers. The quality of the dvd is rubbish, criminal in fact! And how this film doesn't receive better service is beyond me..4.5/5 rounded up!

Terrific revenge film
David(Derrel Maury) moves to a new high school where he meets up with his old friend Mark(Andrew Stevens) who is part of a gang of bullies who rule the school by terrorizing the weaker students with a reign of terror. However, David is disgusted by the gangs behaviour and sides with the underdogs, culminating in a rescue of two female students who are being raped. This angers the gang who take revenge on David by crushing his legs under a car. He is crippled for life. When David is released from Hospital, thre members of the gang start to die one by one, but as the balance of power shifts, the now unhinged David realises he has created a new monster, as those he saved from oppression become power mad themselvesI bought this as part of a 'Shock Horror' box set, and to be honest wasnt expecting that much. I was to be very pleasantly suprised, as its a brilliant little film that offers so much more than a simple gory revenge thriller. There is a sense of realism, as the bullies carry out there actions in the first half of the film. Theres not an adult, a teacher to be seen, as various students are tormented by the gang. Really, the social commentary the film provides on the human condition is quite depressing as what it is saying is that emancipation will lead to abuse of power in most cases. Its not a particularily gory film, instead focussing on the twisted social dynamics within the school. The performances are uniformally excellent, and really it is a film that needs more recognition as its a bit of a lost classic. 4 out of 5
