Really well-designed knife
This is my first Shieldon purchase, which I obtained after seeing several positive Youtube reviews.it's a medium-large sized knife, but still remains lightweight. Useable for EDC, at least I find it so.Unique tanto-ish blade design. Good steel.Great overall visuals. It looks really nice. My Wife liked it right away.

It's a Good Knife, but...
I have a ton of good knives, but I buy them at price point of maybe $12-35. I have nerve damage in my hand so require either open-assist or good bearings to let it flip open easily: this one does that. Like I said, this is a good knife. The blade sharpens well and holds an edge. I like the blade size, and the locking mechanism is top notch. I guess I expected this knife, at the $50+ price point, to be superior to my other knives. It isn't. It's as good as most of them. The handle is a little slim for my hand and looks better in the pictures than in person. If price isn't relevant to your purchase decision, you might consider this one. If you want a top tier knife, you'll likely have to pay a top tier price. Good knives, like this, can be acquired for a better price from the likes of m tech, elk ridge, and a dozen other fly-by-night brands.

Carries like a smaller knife, good heat-treat, well made.
I was initially hesitant to get this because many makers don't do the best heat-treat of D2 steel, but I saw many favorable reviews and decided to chance it. I was not disappointed! First, the knife needs the usual cleaning & oiling to open & close smoothly, and I touched up the blade further to make her hair-popping sharp. The grind is even, which isn't always the case for Chinese-made knives at this price point, and the coating in the blade is without defect. The layered G10 is very well done, and everyone comments on it looking like snake scales (hence the apt name). There are no hotspots or sharp edges, and while the pocket clip isn't a deep-carry profile, it allows the knife to sit nicely in the pocket. I haven't searched around for a pocket clip, but I suspect you would have trouble finding the perfect shade of gray to match the blade. The black ones might be easier. Another nice detail is Shieldon finished the liners and pivot bushings in the same coating as the blade, giving the knife a high-end appearance.I gave this knife 4 stars. While I carry my knives right-hand/tip up, this is the only option. The MSRP is higher than what I paid since there was a coupon at time of purchase. The jimping on the spine could be longer (like Kizer does) and I'd rather have a 14C28N blade for better corrosion resistance.Shieldon has a nice knife here, and I'm looking forward to what they'll make in the future. This knife with a sheepsfoot or drop point profile would look great, but the modified tanto is super easy to sharpen. It's a long knife, but carries like a medium blade since it isn't too "tall."
