Protection for a knife and fingers if stored; expensive for what they are
Previously, similar kitchen knife protectors from another brand and in various lengths and widths were used for the larger knives that did not fit within an available knife block; unfortunately that range of products, which were also quite inexpensive, is no longer available. In design, the two are quite similar although of very different plastics, colour and price - these are by far the more expensive of the two ranges. The cost of adding one to an inexpensive knife may make the prospect less attractive although providing safety when handling. If several knives are stored in a drawer with their blades unprotected, the consequences of an accidental and possibly serious injury from an unprotected blade do not bear thinking about. From experience, serrated blades are those most likely to cause cuts from incidental contact and it is a new knife with such a blade that needs this.Available in several lengths to fit different knives that may exist in a collection and in a couple of widths to suit narrow blades (carving and boning knives, possibly) and wider chef's knives. These are of a relatively thin and flexible material (the older ones are solid, hard plastic) and grip the blade quite strongly. The protectors are unlikely to slip off unless the blade is very thin. While a necessity, they are expensive for what they are (but not the most expensive of their type) and do not offer best value.

Protects my Shun knife properly
I bought this to protect my Shun knife which I bought recently. Due to how small my drawer compartment is, I have no choice but the rest the knife on its blade which is not ideal. So, I bought the knife guard to protect the blade. I love that it is thin and not too bulky so it saves space and serve its purpose. Lost the star due to the price which i thought was not justifiable as it is after all just a small piece of plastic to protect the blade and nothing else. That said, still looks posh and does its job.

I'm not the happiest with them and I'm not so sure of their ...
I bought these for my Global knives because I couldn't find some other sheathes which Lakeland used to stock. I'm not the happiest with them and I'm not so sure of their long term functionality. If you are looking for a thin sheath, maybe to help you store your knives in a drawer, and not for much travel then these might be good for you. They are very thin, and offer little to no protection from bending, or bumps on the spine of the knife. They are also open ended. I would not recommend these for global knives due to their single piece construction, as the smooth bolster from the blade to the handle means that if they are pushed forward into this sheath, the tip can protrude and either be damaged or cause damage.Larger knives, such as my Santoku knife, leave a great deal of the knife exposed, only essentially protecting the edge.I know you are supposed to look after your knives with great care, but sometimes a sheath is necessary, and when it is necessary, this might not be the best one to go for. And the Global magnetic ones are far worse.I would look elsewhere for a better .

Perfect Knife Protector
Very good blade protector. My only negative comment on this item is the end of it should be sealed off so when you slide it to the end, it stops. I've never had an incident where I've cut myself and I do find you'd have to be very careless to cut yourself but that would have been something I'd added when making this product.Thoroughly recommend if you want to keep your knives safe and prevent anyone accidentally cutting themselves.

It Does The Job.....but........
.......It's essentially a piece of card with some felt inside it. It DOES do the job, but it should be £3.95 not £7.95. I bought this because Amazon recommended it when I bought a zwilling knife. I just wish ti was included. The three stars reflects the price, not the effectivity which is good.
