This is adorable and tiny. I needed it to crush pills down at the barn for my farm animals. It works great. I can put one to two pills in it, and it crushes them easily. This would only be good for very small amounts. Measures a few inches across, and has a tiny pestle, only 2 inches tall:l. I’ve used it a lot and it’s held up. I’ve dropped it and it didn’t shatter: would be a really cute gift. If you want it to make large amounts of crushed herbs (eg pesto etc) it’s too small, Just fyi.

Remember, 1.5" is FOR REAL! It is tiny! I use it to crush medicine to put in apple sauce so my child can swallow a bit easier. It stains really easily and I'm not always sure it's "cleaned" out of residue. That's just from how I use it. But, it is very nice.

I use this exclusively for pill crushing. I had a plastic one for a while until the bottom cracked. This porcelain one works great. The only problem I have and it's not a big deal is that the surface at the bottom of the mortar and head of the pestle is "rough", which is good so the pills don't slide all about BUT it also means that a SMALL amount of the pills remain caught in this rough area. Again, not a big deal. I like this product.
