Solid State Electronic Devices

Extremely Satisfied
I'm taking a course in solid state devices and I needed the sixth edition but my professor said a fifth edition would do fine. The price difference was significant so I looked for the fifth edition. I received the book on time, it was in great condition and I'm extremely satisfied with it.

Great condition
The books seems as it was never opened. Has a few pages with writing on them but didn't bother my studies. Good condition, no missing pages and no external/internal damage.

Solid textbook
This textbook is quite thorough in explaining the concepts I'm learning in my Intro to Nanotech Structures class. However, I've definitely noticed instances where a phenomenon wasn't discussed in enough detail for me to understand it. Luckily, it was something my professor went over in class so it made more sense. The diagrams are very good and teach a lot -- I just wish a bit more description was given for the figures.

Text Book
This was a purchase for a class, less expensive than the bookstore price and arrived very quickly. Amazon was a great solution for what could have been a more expensive book.

Wordy, some explanations are not clear, can be better.
I finished chapter 7. The authors do not show each step how to get the equations. Instead, a lot of math steps are missing. Unless you are good at math and recall all the fundamental physics equations, you will spend a lot of time to derive the equations by yourself. Without derive the equations, you can only accept the results without any insight. This book tries to cover introduction materials and more advanced materials. There is another problem. There are obvious errors. On page 38, the equations are not even printed out completely. This book is very wordy. It can be much concise without losing any content. For more advance semiconductor book, read Device Electronics for Integrated Circuits by Richard Muller, Berkeley. It is one of the best semiconductor textbook I have read.Another reviewer said the book used Laplace transform. I finished chapter 7, I could not find any Laplace transform. I am wondering if he reviewed the wrong book.Chapter 7 is good because it has covered a lot of applications and physics of Bipolar. However, chapter 7 still suffers the same problems I have mentioned above. It is not a bad book but it could be better.I am sure the author (Indian professor) are good in the field He just needs to be more concise to explain the concepts and derive the equations in more details.

Worst binding I've ever seen
The binding was already falling off when I got it. I returned it and the replacement binding broke in the middle of the book, making it always flop open to the same page when set down, making studying difficult. If there's a digital copy available, go for that. Worst binding I've ever seen. Oh, yeah, the content is presented in the most incoherent way possible. Difficult to read. But hey, maybe I could have focused better if it would STAY OPEN TO THE PAGE I WAS READING!!! So glad I'm graduating so I don't get abused by these slime-ball textbook companies anymore. We should be having hearings on Capitol Hill on these shysters.

excellent book, bought it for 350
excellent book, bought it for 350. standard book for solid state electronics. easy approch to understanding basics. not too much mathematical as other books are. still enough mathematics for msc students.

A good textbook on semiconductor physics
A good textbook on the basics of semiconductor physics. the information is presented in a very condensed manner but overall its a good textbook.
