Really pack it full of fuel and close it up. In your garden give a puff of smoke around you every few minutes. It's a bit of work learning how to start it quickly, but it should work just fine. Bugs don't like smoke. Otherwise, just use a Thermacell. They work great.

I expect it would-if you put in two or three pellets it makes a good smoke.
