Buyer Beware - This is not an OEM belt!
I had read many reviews about non-OEM belts not working. So, researched the OEM part number for the belt and tried to purchase it. I install this belt, which I thought was an OEM belt, because the item description begins with the OEM part number. The belt installed without issue, and ran fine without any clothes in the dryer. The next day, I did a wash and put a bunch of wet clothes in the dryer (because that's what you do with a dryer). It ran for a few minutes. Then the drum stopped turning. After taking the dryer apart again, to make sure I installed the belt correctly, which I did, I thought there was something else wrong with the dryer. So, I called an appliance repair place and was going to schedule a repair call. Luckily for me, the man I spoke to ran me through the installation to make sure I had done it correctly. Then he asked if I had used an OEM belt. So, I look at the Amazon product description more closely. As it turns out, even though the product description began with the OEM part number, it was an after market part. So, I purchased an OEM belt from the appliance repair place and installed it. My dryer works like new. After comparing the two belts, it was obvious the OEM belt had a rubbery friction to the surface, that the this belt did not. Once I removed this non-OEM belt, it was readily apparent it was slipping on the motor shaft/spindle. While there wasn't enough friction to drive the belt, there was enough to generate heat from the slipping, and put a set in the belt, almost a kink.Bottom line: Save yourself some headaches and buy an OEM belt, not this one.Kudos to Amazon's return policy. This part qualified for a non-return refund.

Save Money And Do It Yourself!
My 15 year old Whirlpool was having an issue with it's thermostat. Calling a repair person to just come look at it would be about half the cost of buying a new washer, let alone any parts and additional labor I'd be on the hook for. So I decided to do it myself.Wise decision. While doing that repair, I noticed the belt was starting to fray. Less than 15 minutes later, my dryer is as good as new. This part looks and feels to be of the same quality of the original that came with the dryer when I bought it new. Installation couldn't have been any easier. Here's to hoping I get another 15 years out of this dryer.
