Very Romantic, Sweetly Tender, Emotional, and Quite Humorous!
Excellent and somewhat unique story, with great characters. This author certainly has a talent for interesting and entertaining dialogue.*Note - While I could have done without the bit of cursing - (the ‘D’ word)… I didn’t take any stars off for it because it is a personal dislike of my own, and not exactly a detriment to the story, and not overly used.> I absolutely love Taft! In fact he is one of my favorite heroes that I have read.He is witty, so completely caring, and amazingly honorable. He comes to Alexandrina's rescue - both in the garden 'scandal', and in getting custody of her son.She is seemingly his opposite in every way. But only till they get to know one another.Once they each figure out that the other one is truly amazing despite their own past painful issues, things get interesting. The romantic attraction is strong - and unwanted at first - but then becomes quite the distraction for both.Clean and romantic kissing. The verbal sparring is quite entertaining, and some of the best I've read. Some of the conversations that Taft has with himself when he realizes that he is falling hard for Alix are pretty hilarious. This author also has a talent for unique quirky phrases that are quite funny… “gads, he felt like an ox in a sink pit if she was within ten feet of him.”Overall this book is very well written and I recommend it!💜

Sweet, Funny, Romantic, and Emotional
Taft Debenham (love his name!) is the extremely extroverted darling of society who loves throwing surprise house parties and thrives in the chaos. Lady Alexandrina Lawson hates society and all the fakeness and gossip that goes along with it. She has never looked favorably at Taft since he is society's pet, but when she is caught wearing a torn dress alone in the garden with a drunk, it is Taft who steps in.As Alexandrina points out, all people are flawed, but overall both she and Taft seem like good people. They are just so different from one another on the surface. Deep down Taft has always just been looking for love, and he surrounds himself with society just to have people with him. Alexandrina has lived through a horrible first marriage and had to fight for the right to even see her son. This has caused her to distrust people and close off from society. The way that Alexandrina felt actually left me a little emotional, because I have been through a lot of that and it keeps me closed off from people and my emotions. You have to be sometimes in order to protect yourself.Taft and Alexandrina would banter back and forth, but I appreciated that it never went over the top. Their bantering turned more fun. Taft really is a big kid at heart and having a wife and playmate in one really does seem ideal for him. They were a fun couple, and I love the dynamic that Adam added to the story. This story was sweet, funny, and romantic, as well as thought provoking, and emotional. I totally recommend reading it!

One of my favorite romances this year
All the Heart Eyes for this book!! One of my favorite tropes is enemies to love and the main characters of this book certainly fit the bill. Lady Alexandrina Lawson is a widow out of mourning who seems to attend social functions somewhat reluctantly. While attending a party thrown by one of her cousins an accident in the garden appears to be something else and Alexandrina's reputation and much more is at stake. Coming to her rescue is one of the last men Alexandrina would want to help her, let alone be married to.Taft Debenham, Earl of Harwood, gentleman that he is, comes to Alexandrina's rescue, salvaging her reputation and keeping her from marrying the drunken man who caused the problem. Taft is everything Alexandrina is not--he's flirty, funny, and can be a little mischievous, and truly a kind and caring man. Exactly the kind of man Alexandrina needs to help her heal from her disastrous first marriage.Where do I begin to list what I loved about this book? I loved the main characters!! Taft and Alexandrina (or Alix as Taft called her) are perfectly suited for each other. They bring out the best in one another while providing what each lacks on their own. Taft truly listened to Alix (which I find totally swoony) and was so patient while she learned to trust him. They may have fought, but they were honest with each other--no games for these two--and I loved ALL the banter. One of my favorite parts was when Alix fought for her son, Adam. I loved that Taft let her fight for her son on her own, although he was there for moral support. It showed he believed in her which gave her the confidence she needed to do something that was hard and scary. That was another great swoony moment for me. Taft and Adam!! Because of his own upbringing in a house with parents who didn't show affection, he was the perfect person to help Adam become a playful child again. This is the type of enemies to love story that I love, love, love. Kudos to the author for one of my favorite romances this year.I received a complimentary copy to review but purchased a copy for my personal library. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

A Marriage of Convenience
When Alexandrina is caught first by a rose bush, then hit on by a drunk, Taft Debenham steps in claiming her ruffled appearance is his doing. They may not like each other at first, but their closest friends love them both so they must not be seeing each other clearly.I love Taft and Alix’s relationship. There is a little animosity in the beginning but it mostly leads to playful banter. There is respect and honesty, and delicious romantic tension! I loved Alix’s son, Adam, and Taft’s efforts to bring him into their family. This story was adorable, funny, and impossible to put down!Content: clean (making out, talk of mistresses, mild language)

Mixed
I loved the story, loved the humour, Taft was excellent, Alexandrian less so, but I found there was too much repetitive waffle that I skimmed over.Enjoyable read

Easy, fun read with delightful characters. Suspense is mild, but the story brings you along nicely. Must check the next in book in the series.

Wow !! Delightful !!
Absolutely enjoyed this book with the story of Alexandrina and Taft. The two were so well set against each other. Completely different personalities, but did they clash ?? At the beginning, yes, but oh what a lovely read this was as they had their ups and downs. Totally fantastic writing by Rebecca Connolly. Please keep up the great work..Love the touch of humour, throughout. Makes the book... Readers : Indulge & Be Delighted !!
