I'm in love
I was looking for something fun set in a world that brings both fantasy and the familiar together in a fun, whimsical way without all the cumbersome details that come with building a universe from scratch. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to find it here. I found this book in a clearance area at Target, and I liked the cover. I flipped it over, then read the summary and found it to be funny and far more interesting than the generic stuff being pushed out en masse in romance and Y/A sections. Finding a good book for less than five dollars is rare, but I was convinced this was somehow special. And it was! Also, It wasn't until I finished it that I saw she published another book I'd read and enjoyed (The Hating Game), which fell into the 'I never read this genre but will give it a shot' category for me. I'd suggest checking that one out as well. Different, but nice.Anyways, I'm not very good at thoroughly going through the details of the books I read, since my ADHD remembers what I felt while reading and not everything that happened ever in the story. I will only say that I enjoyed the writing style. That the characters were funny, sweet, and a bit of a mess in the best of ways. The cast is well thought out, and each brings something to the story that made it feel whole. There were sweet moments, angsty moments, moments where I wasn't sure how I felt about what was going on, and moments where I felt cheated (would've loved that kiss from our second contender!!! I wanted to see how she felt about it! Aaaargh!). All in all, this is probably the first book I have thoroughly enjoyed in a long while, and what lit the need to read again in me!!! I was so hooked that I bought the kindle version as well so I could take it wherever I went without the bulk of the book, and I'm rereading it at the moment.TLDR: Buy it! It's sweet and quirky and funny, and heartwarming. If it is considered a sort of 'fanfiction' by some due to the characters, it is the best sort of fic! The kinds that become classics in fandoms. If you want a standalone book that you will breeze through and then feel sad about not seeing more of this universe when it's done, this is the book for you!I do hope you make a prequel to this someday! I would love to know more about Vic and the bear suit misadventures that led to love! Because the man he was changed when he found his lady, and the before and after would be lovely to explore! Thank you for the laughs and the story, Miss Thorne!

Delightful ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 read
I borrowed this from my library and found myself really enjoying it, when I wasn’t reading it would be on my mind. There is a lot of yearning from Angelika and Will, her creation. I really enjoyed the character development of Angelika, she has always been spoiled and blind to those around her, and as her brothers assistant she never really took credit for or stood up for her ideas. With Will at her side she comes into her own and starts claiming the life she wants to live. Loved that this centered Angelika Frankenstein and twisted a story that we all know and love. There was just one part of the story that annoyed me and is the reason is a 4.5 star read.

I love a good twist on a gothic classic!
I love a good twist on a gothic classic, and this is certainly that.I could get bogged down about the ethics and morality of bringing someone back to life without their express consent. Or about then nearly forcing yourself on them due to proximity and the off balance power structure inherent in classist Regency England. But I won't!This did drag a bit in the beginning for me. Frankenstein is one of my favorite gothics, and I've read it many many times. So it could be for that reason that it took me awhile to get into this. I was finding it very hard picturing a happy ending between Angelika and her match, Will. For many reasons.... like knowing how the original ends for Adam, and you know, the morally gray ethics. However! Around 40% of the way through, I was hooked. And I read the last 38% in bed last night by the light of the waning moon. Not really because I was using my e-reader, and I have blackout curtains. But it was very dark, very late, and VERY GOOD.Angelika is the best sort of unreliable narrator. She IS growing, but her growth is colored by her own narcissistic tendencies and take on the world around her. Which is actually very funny to see. And Will. Sweet baby angel Will. What a thoroughly convicted and conflicted man. And this is not to discount any of the side characters!!! I had genuine fear for our good friend, Commander Keatings and his glorious thighs. All of this to say, thank you, Sally Thorne, for starting my 5 star reads of the year with a bang!!

Quirky, bittersweet and utterly enchanting
Angelika Frankenstein is the sheltered younger sister of Victor. In this reimagining of the classic tale, our heroine, having run out of suitors willing to accept her modern ways, reanimates her ideal man (Will), alongside her brother, Victor's creation. I'm generally not fond of historical romance, but with the wit and talent we've grown to expect from Sally Thorne, this was such an unexpected delight. It possibly won't be for everyone, but if you like your tales multi-layered, a little kooky, with strong female characters, and lots of humour, this one is for you. I guessed 'Will's' origin almost immediately, but that in no way stopped me from enjoying this story immensely. I found his and Angelika's chemistry both palpable and incredibly moving. Chapter 33 wrecked me, as did the final chapter. I really appreciated Angelika's development from a spoilt, selfish heiress to the charitable and caring woman she becomes. Mary, Clara, Lizzie, Christopher, and of course, Victor and his creation added so much depth to this often bittersweet love story. And, of course, Belladonna, the enamoured pig.Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match addresses the ethics of reanimation, as well as themes such as wealth, class, faith, duty, and feminism. Thought-provoking, whimsical, at times irreverent, but above all else heartbreakingly beautiful. An absolute triumph. fun and crazy
What a strange romance lol. Definitely the last thing I expected to happen in regards to finding a match. Angelika was one interesting lead character. Will taught her to be a better person and throughout the course of their relationship she does make an effort and becomes a decent person. Her brother and Lizzie were hilarious too.

Could NOT Put it Down
I haven’t read in so long, and so happy that I read this book. It was addictive and in three days I was lost in this book. Would have read it in one day if it wasn’t for my two year old and work.
