X-21BB Ritchie Navigation 2-Inch Dial Sport Compass with Dash Mount (Black)

Originally I bought this on Amazon and it was awesome. I use it to back up my GPS. However, over time the water kept getting lower and lower and it is now unusable. It say in the back that it is in not refillable as well. Not sure how to deal with it but I will try and refill it. Im giving it 2 stars because it is a cool product just lost all the water in it. Bummer.

I got this compass for my sailboat because I wanted a dash mount model so I'd quit hitting my elbow on my top mount compass. I sail in the gulf a lot and when you point west(without autopilot), you need to watch a compass heading to stay on track. This is a pretty good compass for that. I can read it well from 8-10 ft away, the light is perfect at night, and its good in the waves or while heeled over. The downside to this model is that there is no adjustment for north. I happen to live in an area where true and magnetic north are almost exactly the same, so that isn't much of a deal breaker for me. It was calibrated well from the factory and shows magnetic north faithfully and accurately. If you live in the north east, or somewhere where magnetic and true don't align, you'll always be doing the math in your head. They could have at least had a cheap clicker system to move the heading indicator line over or something.Overall: Good compass with one flaw.

Looks really good once installed. Simple enough to wire, and seems to work. I'm not navigating the open ocean so I don’t need anything special, just something to keep me orientated when fishing late at night.Not sure why, but they made it about 1/32" smaller than the typical dash gauge so it’s a bit loose in the hole. There is however a rubber gasket that seems to take up the difference. Finding the right since cut-out saw might be tricky

Okay, I ordered this to complement the upgraded instrument panel in my RV. Yes, it's not something you normally see on the dash but the cost of a turn-and-bank indicator was around 1200 bucks so this will have to do.... the Ritchie company warns you that this is for reference bearing only, not for exact navigation. They also mention that electrical fields can effect the reading. No kidding! Toss in small metal components such as sockets and any other iron-based metals can throw this off. We're talking a small piece of metal takes this 30 degrees off of true heading?? What? The Allegro dashboard has a metal backing panel on it, guess what? No matter where I install this gauge it goes WAAAY off any reasonable heading. USELESS as anything other than a remotely, pod mounted compass.If you are looking for something to mount in your dash or control panel, better be darn sure this unit is at least 4"-6" away from ANY metal, gauge or anything consisting of metal because it will cause it to be completely off. The caution for the unit is an understatement.I'll be tossing this unit since it's cannot be installed in my RV anywhere reasonable and I've already scratched it trying to mount it.

Works beautiful. I installed it into an extra hole available on my boat's dash, & to my surprise it is accurate. I knew with any compass, interference could be present which requires calibrating, & buying this one was taking a chance because this model cannot be calibrated. But mine fit right in the boat manufacturer's typical hole size in dash, installation only took a minute, & mine is completely accurate. I'm glad I took a chance on it. The big white letters "Ritchie" are tacky & annoying but that's what sharpies are for! I used a black sharpie wrote carefully atop the white letters & wa la, now you don't see any "Ritchie"!

After purchasing my f19 hurricane fundeck with Yamaha V F 115 it seems almost impossible to find all the accessories in one place it's amazing that this fit ias easily is it did by unscrewing the dashboard laying the panel forward - access the back and by gosh the boat was pre wired for the lighting on the compass fits perfect too easy.With all the junk out there miscommunication -dimensions - wrong size excetera it's so beautiful to have something that actually works no beatdown 5 stars

Very nice. I drilled the hole out and the compass fit perfect, tightened it down and it hasn’t moved. Seems to be very reliable.

This was a replacement for an unit I installed on our boat some time ago. Somehow the part I replaced leaked the float fluid that the direction indicator floated in. There is no way to repair these units. They are relatively inexpensive and the one I purchased was very accurate off the boat and installed. Would have given more stars if the unit could be repaired. Very happy with this compass.
