Sterilite Corp. 04900012 Ultra Seal 1 Gallon Pitcher

I drink a lot of iced tea and I like to keep a jug at all times in the fridge. A long oval shape fits much better than round, which is why I chose this particular pitcher. The blue top attaches firmly and the flip lid closes well also, but that is something of a problem- I have to press so hard to get the flip top open, that it usually just detaches completely (as in, the little nubs that form the "hinge" just pop out of their holes.) I have remedied this by leaving it slightly open, but it is an annoyance. The handle is also not great for when the pitcher is full. When it is full and heavy, a handle with a thin edge hurts your hand. Again, kind of a minor problem but worth noting. I still give it three stars because it is the size and shape I prefer, and the smooth insides make it easy to wash.

Use it for storing portable water at camp. Great size at great price. And good quality.

I've been using these Sterilite pitchers for probably 16 years. They're not flimsy like the usual grocery store pitchers, and they actually seal to keep in spills and keep out weird fridge flavors. The seal is also handy when we take them camping, because we are usually adding powders to water, and can shake these pitchers to mix the drink without bringing a big spoon. That's why we originally bought them, but they lasted forever!I still have 3 half-gallon pitchers from 16 years ago, but time was harder on our gallon-sized pitchers. One cracked by the handle but we kept using it for years after that. I finally decided to replace it. I wanted another Sterlite sealing pitcher because I've been so happy with them, but when I sent my son to the store to buy a new pitcher, he couldn't find one. He really wanted one immediately, so we considered buying a Rubbermaid or other pitcher, but they don't seal AND we measured them and they won't fit in our fridge. THIS is the shortest gallon-size pitcher on the market, the same height as a milk jug.Hands down the best pitcher out there. I love the turquoise lid, too. My old ones were royal blue with yellow or lime green circles. I like the single color better and I like that the color is updated.

Over time it might stain with drink dyes, but it's really a great shape in the hand for carrying and pouring, it's slim fit works great in the fridge, the lid looks hospital green in photos but it's a really pretty teal blue (last one I had the lid was blue abd yellow). 2nd time purchasing it because it was so handy. The pop top to pour on my last one broke after years and years of use, but it's pretty sturdy. The round stopper you push on one side like a bevel fits in to place with a couple of plastic notches, and the lid, once on, is pretty spill proof unless it really hits the floor hard. I love this pitcher.
