Wysong Ferret Archetypal-2 - Dry Ferret Food, 5 Pound Bags, (Pack of 4)

I had been out of the ferret game for a few years and was planning to add a ferret to my life again. Some quick research showed that the standard Wysong Epigen 90 formula was causing diarrhea and other problems for ferrets and this Digestive Support formula was a fantastic alternative. I purchased it along with Instinct Grain-Free Rabbit Meal Dry Cat Food by Nature's Variety 5.5 lb Bag and did a 60/40 mix of Wysong to Instinct.I ended up rehoming a charming male ferret that is probably a couple years old, been through multiple households and a shelter, and likely on horrible diets during his short life. He was thin and his coat was stained yellow but he did not show any signs of disease. The previous owner said he hadn't been eating well since she switched his food from Marshall to a "cheap brand". That all changed however once I got him home! He has been chowing down and goes through almost a 10oz bowl of food a day. I have never had a ferret eat so much! I was also concerned that he would have an upset stomach due to switching foods but he has had zero problems and I attribute that to the Digestive Formula. Secondly, in just under a week, his coat has improved substantially and he seems to be putting on weight. The yellowing is decreasing and I can tell a difference in the fur around his neck - it is so much fuller.I would recommend this food to other ferret owners, especially if they are rescuing or adopting a ferret as it is such a high quality food. I always like to mix up my animal's foods with every new batch but keep one as a staple to avoid tummy issues... this Digestive Formula will certainly be my ferret's staple.UPDATE (7/3/15):Five months later and I still could not be happier with this product! I always use it as a staple in all of my ferret's food mixes and he gobbles it down without any intestinal issues.

I was having a hard time finding ferret food after the food I had been giving to my little girl was no longer available. I read the reviews for this food and they looked great and from the reviews the food itself was described on the smaller end. My ferret is very tiny and she likes to eat small kibbles and that is exactly what I got when I purchased this item. If you have never purchased this ferret food before, just know that the dry food is very tiny and round.The day the food arrived I gave it to her and she took to it immediately!! This was so amazing because I had already tried 5 different brands that she just did not want to eat or just flat out refused to even try. Some were even too big that they got stuck on the roof of her mouth. This food has been the right fit for my ferret and I am truly grateful because I was concerned I would never find anything she would eat.The food itself smells good and does not have any artificial coloring. It did not make her litter pan smell also did not make her smell. If anything, it made her and her litter box smell better. Since using this brand for several months my ferret is very healthy, and has even gained some weight that she had lost during the transition of finding the right food for her. Her coat smells great and looks very healthy with a nice shine. Even though the food is more on the expensive side, it does last longer and it is worth every penny to me.

After two bladder stone surgeries each, both of my fuzzbutts were switched over to Wysong from Zupreem. We got in trouble when EVO was taken off the shelves a few years ago & we resorted to Zupreem. I hear that Zupreem has since altered their formula, due to the staggering number of ferrets dying from & being operated on for bladder stones. I hope that's true, and commend them for at least responding. (If your fuzzbutt was effected, contact them through their website and they will reply).My little girls LOVE the Archetypal freeze-dried "snacky bits" (as we call them), and have been doing very well on all Wysong food products. I mix the Archtypal-2 with the Epigen Digestive kibble, 50/50 mix, and add in plenty of the freeze-dried bits. This has kept my sweethearts in excellent health and will hopefully do so for years to come.Thank you, Wysong!!!!

I inherited my daughter's ferret when she moved cross country. We had them before when she was much younger. This ferret looked sickly and very thin. Her coat was pretty sparse also. I changed her diet to this food. She took to it immediately, unlike the experience of many other reviewers. For a few days after switching over, her feces smelled rather foul. I'm assuming her system was purging somehow. After a few weeks, she began to gain weight, her coat for got fluffy and the color seemed to change. I'm not certain if it actually changed or just looks different because it's fluffier. In any event, is more energetic and appears much healthier since beginning this diet. I also tried the wet food of this brand (rabbit based). But she wouldn't touch it.

Our ferrets (3 of them) don’t smell since being on this food. They actually don’t stink at all. It’s amazing what quality food can do for them if you are feeding dry food. Zero regrets.

my ferret is definitely healthier now that this food is mixed with her other food. it took a while to get her to eat it, i cant give it alone because it makes her stool soft so i do worry about that. but other than that shes been fine.the only thing i wish was different is for them to ship to military addresses!! i live on a military base so i have to order this through a third party which costs an extra 40$ : / so i'm spending 60$ on each bag of food.... THAT kind of sucks! i would rather just pay whatever shipping the company wants and have it sent straight to my house.
