Nice, but not only for younger children and odd omissions
This book presents 14 different workplaces, the people there, and what they do. The information for each career/job/task is brief so the book is appropriate for age 7 and under in my opinion. The artwork is overly simplified too so not really appropriate for older kids. The 14 workplaces are: school, hospital, farm, construction site, downtown, theater, action-packed, hotel, outdoors, concert hall, newsroom, gym, university, and airport... which include 115 careers/jobs/tasks. It covers policemen through students and makeup artists through milkers. Some of the things the people are doing are NOT careers like being an audience member, hotel guest, shopper, or gym member which I feel is a waste of space in the book. Regarding the careers mentioned, and yes a lot are presented, however a lot of careers are also left out. The book completely ignores manufacturing jobs, drivers, politicians, home-makers, lawyers/judges, religious professions, postal workers, and science careers outside of the medical profession, forestry, and universities. Being s science teacher, I would have preferred the book to skip the university setting and instead done a manufacturing setting where they could have included inventors, researchers, computer programmers, chemists, microbiologists, assembly workers, accountants, etc. Leaving out all those STEM type jobs was a mistake in my opinion - we have to break the idea that science is only connected to universities and hospitals! I also think the book should have had a government setting that covered lawyers, judges, politicians, ambassadors, mayors, postal workers, tax collectors, etc. I mean there are so many people in those professions so ignoring it was strange.

pretty book
The book is so pretty, my 3 year old loves looking at the pages and frequently asks me to read it for her. the only reason to take off one star is like another reviewer mentioned, there are a lot other typical and important career types omitted, maybe due to space limit.

Diverse and Inclusive
Love this book!! Wonderful illustrations, great diversity in both the careers shown and the broad selections of individuals shown. Bought for a 4 year old but will definitely be something he will enjoy for many years. Very impressed!

Refreshing take on careers and jobs for kids to understand
Love how this showcases all different settings and the jobs that make it work! The range of men, women, and diversity is refreshing. Love that the jobs arenโt just doctor, lawyer, police. Designer! Playwright! Makeup artist! Custodian! The pictures are really fun and my kids love it.

Great Modern Job Examples, Strong Female Role Models & Engaging Illustrations
Wonderful illustrations and positive female role models for our curious kindergartener. A great updated alternative to Richard Scarrys "What Do People Do All Day" (where a mother cat does such a good job completing her vacuuming that she 'earns' a new dress from father cat).

Great book
Really cool book. Love the diversity. My toddler loves it. It demystifies the whole job world a bit for kids and helps them begin to wonder what they would like to be.
