Julie Lavender has a wonderful way with words. She accurately conveys the truth of God's word in a way that is engaging and exciting for children. She takes us through major stories in the Bible, pointing out the amazing character of God and the loving and good plans that He has for His people.I really enjoyed the short chapters. They each end with reflection questions and a prayer. Sometimes questions like these can be so obvious and uninteresting. Not these! Julie Lavender has put so much care and thought into these, so they aren't simple yes and no questions, but are instead questions that help get at the heart. They help parents and children understand the core of who God is and how He directs His people and what He wants for us.I really appreciate having a prayer written out. It is easy to skip that part of our relationship with God. Having something written out prompts us to talk to God and helps our children learn the importance of that.The illustrations are beautiful! They are appropriate for that area of the world that the events of the Bible occurred in, helping the truth and reality of the Bible sink in even more. I have really enjoyed this book and am excited to share it with other friends and family.

The media could not be loaded. I have been wanting to get this for so long, but had mixed feelings from the reviews. Now that I have this book, I do not understand where the negative reviews come from. I can understand, as others have mentioned, that in the first story of Genesis it states that the planet was already existing(in this book). That can be upsetting since it is inaccurate but I do think that can be easily explained to the children that God created all things and that it’s not that big a deal. I have only read through to Adam and Eve’s story, so I haven’t seen any other problems yet. If I do I will update this review. As of right now, I think this is a beautiful children’s bible, good for beginners ages 6-7 I would say, but it all depends on you. I imagined it would be bigger, but it’s decent sized, lovely illustrations, and good quality pages. It even includes a place holder to bookmark. It has the old and New Testament for kids, and every story ends with a reflection of questions to discuss with the kids and a prayer. I see nothing wrong with this book and I couldn’t be happier with it. Can’t wait to read it to my boys 💙

Bought for my great niece. Read Alot of it before sending it to her. Very nicely written for children to understand and with added prayers for them to pray.

I've been looking for a new Bible Storybook for my grandchildren and am thrilled to say I've found a winner! Many Bible storybooks don't feel like they were really written for children but for adults. Julie Lavender clearly knows kids. She asks the questions they're asking and speaks their language. She makes the stories engaging for both children and adults. She made me laugh while still keeping the sense of reverent awe for God and His glory. She even addresses theological topics in ways kids can understand.One feature I hadn't expected was the Getting Ready for Bedtime routine at the beginning of the book. She offers 10 tips for settling down for the day. I love it. I can picture my grandchildren checking off each item and making bedtime easier and more enjoyable for them and their parents — and for us whenever we're blessed to help get them ready for bed.I also love that she includes questions at the end of each story. Fun questions and thoughtful questions. I can imagine choosing one question each time we read the story so we can save the others for the next time we read it. I have no doubt they're going to beg me to read these stories over and over.Another feature I didn't expect was the Index. I have the eBook version and I can click on characters (like Aaron or Abendego), events (like the birth of Jesus or invasion by Babylon), topics (like "consequences" and "making choices.") It's fabulous. What a great feature.I first fell in love with this author's writing when I bought her book "365 Ways to Love Your Child." She's hit another home run with this book!!

Julie Lavender's new Bible story book is both true to scripture and humorous. The author has woven in explanations that make complicated cultural differences understandable and offers reflection questions at the end of each story as prompts for parents or other adults to use as springboards for discussion. A simple prayer also provides a wonderful model for teaching a child about prayer.This little Bible story book is a well-rounded purchase and can be used beyond bedtime as a family devotional, in the preschool classroom, or as a Sunday school resource.I can't wait to purchase a hard copy for my niece and nephew!

My kiddo loves me to read this book to him. He is 6 and it is pretty much at his comprehension level. I appreciate the engaging questions and prayers in it as well. I highly recommend this book!

We loved this Bible so much that after reading it, one story a night to my five- and eight-year-old children, I bought two more Bibles to give as gifts to friends.Amazing stories with engaging discussions at the end.

I bought this for younger kids sunday school and it's ideal. The art is beautiful, and the stories just long enough. It's written in a light and engaging manner for younger kids, and it has good questions at the end of each story for further discussion. I'm very happy with my purchase.
