Not a Classic but….
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Yes it was predictable but in a good way. It deals with the subject of life and it’s disappointments, grief, but also love and the good things life has to offer if you choose to receive them. This isn’t going to be a classic passed down from generation to generation but it was an extremely enjoyable read. I think you’ll find that too.

Absolutely beautiful story!!
What a wonderful writer. Her attention to detail and character development is amazing. Giving you a storythat you wish would never end. The characters become so real to you that you can't bear to let go.You will laugh like crazy much of the time, but be prepared with a box of tissues.Definitely a MUST READ!

A lesson for.all
This book started a little slow for me, but then I couldn't put it down as the story developed between Rose, Eudora and Stanley. It gives a great lesson in acceptance of people who are different than you, being kind to others and being yourself.

this book touched my heart in so many ways!
I laughed, I cried and I was sad for Eudora. Her relationships with her new neighbors and friends was a positive turning point in her life and in this story. I truly recommend this wonderful book to all that need a reminder to live life while you can!

Wow.
What an amazing book, start to finish. From the beginning I felt I knew where the book was leading, but I had to follow the progression and see the subtle transformation of Eudora, and laugh at the irrepressible Rose and steady but ornery Stanley. So glad I took a chance on this book.

Funny & poignant
I found this book to be very similar to “A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman — with an old, cantankerous protagonist who has lost the desire to live, a new neighbour that brings in a ray of hope, a poignant back-story interspersed with the main narrative, a writing style that’s simple yet touching and a cat as well. The book deals with the life of octogenarian Eudora Honeysett as she contemplates the final years of her life. Unlike her peers, she’s not scared about death and she would rather go early than approach it slowly and painfully. Her life then gets upended by the entry of Rose Trewidney, a loveable precocious child, and her family and a new friendship with Stanley Marcham, who’s only a few years younger than her. Her back-story incorporating her mother and her younger sister forms the concluding part of each chapterThe book is poignant in parts, and funny and hopeful in others — a bitter-sweet journey as Dora thinks about her past, explores her feelings about death and revels in her new relationships. It is also an emotional commentary about death. “We are living longer but not better”, as one of the characters in the book puts it, took me back to one of the best books that I’ve read recently, “Being Mortal” by Atul Gawande.Overall, this is a very enjoyable book to read — it would have been even more enjoyable had I not read Backman’s book first!Pros: Funny & poignant, easy-to-readCons: Very similar to "A Man Called Ove"

Heart warming and thought provoking
This account of Eudora’s “golden years”, from grey any and hopeless to (well, read it and see!) may seem a bit glib and predictable, but it is a fun read AND made me think about questions concerning the trials of ageing, medically assisted suicide, and what ultimately makes life worth the bother. Lots of humour (so it isn’t too heavy) but also lots to think about. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and moving
I loved this book from start to finish. The characters are real and genuine, and the emotional journey through Eudora's life leaves the reader with an empathetic sense of understanding for her wishes. The development of connections in the winter of her life is poignant, necessary, and so satisfying as to provide the reader with a sense of relief that Eudora has finally found some sense of family and happiness.A beautiful and moving, but quick and easy read. Perfect for book clubs as it provokes insightful contemplation and emotion and is definitely a conversation starter.

Brilliantly done
I loved this book. I lost my husband in the last few years so the subject matter of this book was very meaningful to me. I had struggled with the whole concept of death and choices in life on all kinds of subjects. This book was witty enlightening, heart-wrenching, huggable and heart warming. The characters were my friends and it felt like I was living and sharing in their experiences. In parts, I laughed out loud,! At times I wanted to cry and did. Brilliantly done!
