ERB 14371 Chain Saw Safty Kit...Comfortable and made in the U.S.A.
First impressions: Wow! Nice quality, fit and finish. The entire set is made in the U.S.A. (except for the goggles, they are unfortunately made in China...what a disappointment). Everything else is made in the U.S.A. including the ear protection and the helmet. The ear muffs (TASCO Sound Shield, made in the U.S.A.) really help to reduce the noise and they don't hurt your ears...they are very comfortable. They have a NRR rating of 28dB which is an excellent noise reduction rating (the higher the NRR dB number the better the sound reduction). The ear muffs can be easily flipped outward while you are wearing them so you can hear things when you need to.The face screen is made by TASCO in East Providence Rhode Island, U.S.A. The face screen is a very good quality epoxy coated metal mesh screen. It is adjustable so you can flip it up to see without it if you need to, but it is very easy to see through when it is in place. The helmet model is the OMEGA II and it is solidly built, has a lot of airflow, and the padding makes it very comfortable. It is made in Woodstock Georgia, U.S.A. and complies with OSHA and meets or exceeds ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 Type 1 Class E, G, & C. The padded (front and back) helmet head band adjustment system is easy to use (one adjustment knob in the back) and I was able to quickly adjust it to my size for a comfortably perfect fit. The chin strap was also very easy to adjust. The set comes unassembled, but it was super easy to assemble and everything fit together nicely. This set exceeds the quality of the Stihl and Husky helmet kits that I have seen in my local hardware stores for over $80.I purchased the safety kit directly from Amazon because they had the best price, $49.99, with free shipping.UPDATE: I wore the safety kit (minus the goggles) all day today cutting trees, brush, and while using my shop vac. Three times today low hanging branches hit my head, but the helmet protected my head. I got a few scratches in the helmet, but my head is fine. If I was not wearing the helmet, I probably would have had some nice gashes in my head. The helmet remained comfortable all day. The helmet fit adjustment knob in the back of the helmet is nice because you can tighten or loosen the fit while you are wearing the helmet. The noise reduction of the ear protection is just awesome. It completely muffled my chainsaw and I could barely hear my shop vac while wearing the TASCO ear protection. It's nice that the ear muffs can be flipped out and away from my ears when my wife needs to talk to me or if I need to make a phone call...very convenient. The ear protection stayed extremely comfortable all day and never made my ears sore like with some other ear protection muffs I have used in the past. The TASCO face protection screen worked great all day, deflecting bits of wood, and reflection was never a problem with the black epoxy coating (you really can't even tell the screen is there while you are wearing it). It's nice that it is so easy to flip up and out of the way when I need to scratch my nose or adjust my glasses too.I didn't wear the goggles (made in China) because they obstruct my lower view more than with my old safety glasses that are open on the bottom. I could see using the safety goggles when I'm doing other tasks, but for cutting wood...I prefer the open bottoms of my old safety glasses...which give me a better view of what is on the ground.Even though I didn't wear the safety glasses, I still give this chainsaw safety kit five solid stars. I'll be getting lots of use out of this high quality safety kit for years to come.

Excellent product
Great forestry kit. As good or better than $160 Husqvarna or Skill, and far better than any budget set. Not just assembled in USA, but entirely made in USA of USA materials (except for the included goggles). Easy to assemble, if you have a problem ,step away from any chain saw please. Mesh is steel, muffs attenuate very well. Has ratchet headband, with 6 point suspension. AAA+ for 60 bucks.

Nice helmet at reasonable price
I replaced my STIHL helmet system after 10 years of pretty hard use; I just didn't want to pay the high price for a replacement, and the ERB looked pretty good. The helmet and system are nice, and the ear muffs are very good...I hope they hold up.I like the fit and feel, and the price was well below the STIHL helmet system. The goggles are a little flimsy, as other reviews have stated, but I use safety glasses when I cut.My only complaint was there were no instructions with the box; I had to find pictures of the helmet to help me out.

Excellent, minor flaws
Excellent hearing protection, excellent screw-handle adjustment to fit small to extra-large heads, mesh face shield much better than carbonate which may scratch or fog, heavy but that's the price you pay for ruggedness, difficult to assemble, poor assembly directions but the result is worth it, on my only use so far the eye shield was clear and didn't fog. I found the plastic clips attaching chin strap difficult to attach and flimsy, one broke on first use, that design should be improved or extras supplied with helmet, I guess I'll fix it with string instead of paying for replacements. Overall excellent.

Good safety item.
This is a really good chain saw safety kit. Putting it all together was a little tricky, but it works great overall. I use this daily to cut firewood. The hearing protection works excellent to quiet the noise from the saw. The face shield blocks pretty much every little piece of saw dust. The helmet does have a sweat band and it also has a great easy to use adjustment screw. I don't use the goggles so I can't comment on them.

Excellent protection
This is a very nice forestry helmet system manufactured in the US, except for the goggles. It consists of an Omega II helmet, Tasco muffs and steel mesh face shield. The shield extends slightly past my chin. There were no instructions but it was easy to put together. The head harness is a six point system with an adjustable knob for securing it soundly on your noggin. I've used it for firewood cutting, mostly. I like it better than the Husqy and Stihl helmet systems. Great protection at a great price. I gave it a 4 due to the goggles. I think some low profile clear safety glasses would have been a better addition.UPDATE: The attachment points on the helmet where the muffs/shield is anchored have failed (cracked). Now I have a nice helmet but that's about it.

Better than most but has design flaws
I liked this helmet at first . . . then I realized that it tends to fall off your head if you look up. The last time I looked up to see what I'd be cutting down, the helmet slipped off (even though it was tightened to my head) and upon hitting the ground, the plastic housing for one of the earmuffs broke immediately. Not so useful now . . .

Excellent safety head gear
This is a good piece of equipment. The ear protectors are excellent and comfortable. The adjustable head band allows a wide range of sizes so if a head sock is needed in cold weather it adjust to fit with comfort. The elastic strap on the safety goggles is a bit short but it will probably stretch with use. Overall, much better than the Stihl that I had (ran over it with a skid steer -- oops)

This is great for chainsawing
This is great for chainsawing. The mesh protector is great - you can wear glasses/sunglasses with no interference and no fogging problems.Edited Review: Downgraded the review because the ear muff screw became loose from usage and eventually fell out (If you have this helmet, be aware of this problem and tighten the screw regularly). I didn't notice that the screw had loosened and as a result my brother lost parts when he was using it (the outer plate and the screw) and the one side fell off. I'll have to fudge a repair using the proper sized screw and some flat washers. This might be a common problem but could easily have been prevented by using a machine screw and a lock washer vs what looks like a simple sheet metal screw.
