The wood is protected with all natural food grade mineral oil, and finished with bee's wax and carnauba wax to make it shine. The Challah Board / Butcher Block was built to utilize the end-grain of the wood. End-grain is: Durable, scratch resistant, and better for your knives This board would make a great gift, and can actually be put to use. Since it uses the natural colors of the wood, there is no finish to scrape off. The board retains its beautiful natural colors through and through.
