The strength of the magnets is pretty stout. With a fully loaded Canik TP9V2, you have to intentionally pull the weapon away for the magnet. My wife and I tested it and it will hold an AR15 with a full magazine by only one magnet! Granted, two are WAY more secure, but it can still be done. The reason for three stars has nothing to do with the magnet itself; it has to do with the equipment sent with the magnets. As in, there is none. The user has to supply the screws/nails or double-sided adhesive to secure the magnets to the preferred location. Not a huge problem, but it sucks that out of the box you do not get everything necessary to execute the intended purpose. Out of the box, you get two high priced fridge magnets. A short trip to Home Depot and you are good to go, but still sucks.

I think it will work
There is no way this magnet has a 25lb rating on it in my opinion. you can barely touch it and it will wobble side to side. It probably wont fall off but it might slide especially if you go off roading or hit a big bump.Update: I noticed that my Taurus pt92 is a little rounded on top preventing all of the magnet surface to touch the gun. A different type of handgun might work better than mine. If I set the magnet flush on the side of the slide it's pretty strong. I did purchase a Tac-mag magnet to see the difference in strength..if any.Update: 1-27-17 I received the Tac-Mag in the mail today. So I tested my gun pull on safety solutions magnet as well as the Tac-mag. I just used my hand and moved the gun around in different positions on the magnets. I never really noticed any pull difference. The only difference I could see is the Tac-Mag had more rounded corners and the magnets were sunk in on the bottom where as the Safety solutions magnet was flush all the way across the bottom. I mounted a safety solutions magnet on the side of my night stand and let me tell you.. One slight touch and it would send the gun spinning with barrel pointing straight up and one time it spun so hard it flew off and hit the wall. My gun was stuck on the magnet from the side of the slide. So what I would suggest is using 2 magnets mounted one just above the other. I did this and it locked that baby down. No spinning or flying off the magnet. SO use the 2 pack on one gun in my opinion. Now on the mount in the truck under steering wheel which I have pictured below.. one magnet seems to do ok. I would rather have 2 mounted but I don't have another one. it seems to do pretty good though with one. I've driven all around town and offroad a few times and it's stayed put except when I nudged the gun with my knee once the gun moved sideways and the hand grip rested on the center console. not a big deal because of the way I stuck it on the magnet. Hope this helps somebody. Buy a 2 pack for sure.

Lite Weight
Says it holds up to 25 pounds. That doesn't seem to be the case. One can barely hold a full sized handgun and cant hold the gun while the handgun is sideways. Two can barely hold my Remington 870 with an 18 inch barrel and that's not even close to 50 pounds, its more like 7 or 8 pounds. Theses things are terrible and are okay for compact guns only, stuff that weigh less than a pound!

Terrible false advertising
Definitely not what is pictured what is pictured looks like it takes up less room is wider and thinner this is stands pretty tall and is very cheap quality I can imagine just the bolts alone would make the plastic break it's not durable at all The magnet is however strong if you pull straight off of it but if you wiggle it they can fall off I doubt this could hold a shotgun

Marginal at best
Very marginal for 2 of these to hold my Mossberg 500 20 guage. The only way they hold it are if both magnets are on the barrel itself. 1 magnet looks good enough to hold my Glock 23. Certainly wouldn't think either would hold in an earthquake as the listing says. A bit disappointed.

I have a s&w 9mm and a sccy 9mm. They hold the guns, but not very securely. The guns have to be placed just right or they slide around. They are not heavy guns. So the magnets work, just not as secure as others I have purchased.
