This book is well made with lots of great art from the Shining Hearts world. It is broken down into three sections featuring artwork, characters, and enemies/items. The characters section also has detailed explainations and an interview with the series creators, including Tony Taka (character designer/artist). I'd recommend this book to anybody who likes the shining series, anime style art, or great character design.

This is Udon's translation of the original Japanese art book シャイニング・ハーツ ビジュアル設定資料集 that was released in December 2011. It's for the PSP role-playing game Shining Hearts.The book features the concept art for the characters, locations, enemies and in-game items.The bulk is made up of characters created by Japanese pinup artist and character designer Tony Taka. He has designed for several Shining games and has his own artbook Tony's Artworks from Shining World. The character art are in the form of full page pin-up style illustrations and also the concept sketches with notes. The costume designs are very elaborate.There are a few pages of interview talking about the world, the characters and the designs. Strangely, even though they talk about the Chibi versions of the characters, there aren't any main character Chibi art except for the villagers.The environment art is mostly sketches and printed rather small. There are also designs for the ships. the bread and food from the game. The fish are very realistic and comparable to illustrations from fishing magazines.This is a nice visual companion for the game. Di bene in meglio, questo è il primo pensiero che mi è venuto in mente a proposito di questo libro di illustrazioni, compagno e successore del volume “Tony's Artworks from Shining World” che ho avuto modo di recensire pochi giorni fa.Questo volume, come dice chiaramente il titolo, è dedicato interamente all'ultimo capitolo della saga videoludica ambientata nello Shining World, che evidentemente non aveva trovato posto nel precedente volume ed è – se possibile – anche migliore del precedente.Tavole a tutta pagina interamente a colori nella consueta qualità cui ci ha abituati il famoso illustratore/character designer cum mangaka nipponico Tony Taka supportate in questo caso da una marea di informazioni sui personaggi del gioco, compresi i settei delle ambientazioni e dei vari "prop" che compaiono nella saga, spiegati con dovizia di particolari grazie alle interviste agli sceneggiatori e agli sviluppatori.Un invito quindi a prendere in considerazione questo nuovo volume, che è realizzato col consueto alto standard qualitativo tipico delle raccolte di illustrazioni/artbook legati alle varie franchise anime e manga anche dal punto di vista dei materiali impiegati, il che non guasta mai.
