Very sharp. Like a chain saw for your bread. Cuts through all bread easily. Even the freshest loaf is easily sliced with this. Also very well made and nice design. Can see this lasting years. As good as some of the very expensive knives I have previously purchased.

I’ve tried a few items in the Amazon Umi range and without exception, they’ve all performed very well. It seems to concentrate on delivering top quality at a reasonable price. At time of review, this bread knife is selling for £25.99. That may seem a little pricey, but when you see the knife, it’s nothing like the budget range you can find everywhere.The presentation box is plain, but open it up and it contains a really elegant looking bread knife. The contrast detail with steel on the handle and the shape of the handle are excellent design touches. The blade is fearsome; som bread knives have blades which are quite bendy. This one doesn’t flex and you feel the benefit of that when using it.The serrated edge is really sharp and it slices through a large crusty loaf with ease. Tackles the crust in a stroke then glides through the inner crumb without pulling out chunks. In use, it’s really well designed as the curved handle is comfortable to hold and the knife overall is well balanced. This knife is one of a range, so it’s an easy way to build a matching set of your favourite knives but by bit, at reasonable cost. I’ve used a few bread knives over the decades; this is the best and with care ( it’s dishwasher safe) will last for years. Highly recommended.

As usual, the package arrived very quickly from Amazon.I ordered this Amazon Brand UMI 8 Inch Bread Knife as my old one had seen better days.It arrived in a nice solid black presentation box, it has a magnetic flap which you pull to open the box, even before opening I thought presenting a knife in a box like this it has to be a good quality knife. This would make a great present.When I took the knife out of the box it had some weight to it and the balance was good. The full tang handle which is slightly curved makes it comfortable to holdThe blade is made from high carbon stainless steel and is 8 inches long, it has a serrated edge which is very sharp, and it has a plastic protective tip on the end of the knife,Next I used it to cut some bread that I had made that day and it when through it so easily, it didn’t squash the bread like my old knife which is now in the bin.This knife looks great, feels nice in the hand and is very sharp, I would definitely recommend it.At the time of writing this review the price is £25.99.I hope you have found this review and photos helpful.

Looking for a bread knife that will easily cut through bread like butter? Look no further than this bread knife by UMI. I must say that UMI has been a brand that has never once disappointed me in regards to quality and durability. This knife is more on the premium range but it certainly lived up to its expectations and price tags.The teeth of the knife are super sharp and had no issues cutting through baguettes or even thicker breads like bloomers. It was very effortless to cut the bread whereas with other branded knives I have used in the past, I’ve really had to apply a lot of pressure when cutting. This clearly wasn’t the case with the UMI bread knife.The handle is very comfortable to hold too and fits well in my hand thanks to the ergonomic design. It arrived well packaged and presented in a black box with the UMI logo hot foil pressed on the top surface. I just didn't realise how useless our old bread knife had become until we used this - blimey it's sharp! No more sawing at the crust, or creating clumps of bread or a liberal scattering of crumbs, this little beauty simply slices through it in seconds. We tried it on very fresh bread, which of course can be very soft, and it was amazing. Absolutely clean slices. Even better on my husband's soda bread which is far denser, we could actually get much thinner slices than we used to.The handle on this is "grown on" and is an integral part of the knife, rather than just stuck on, it feels pleasantly weighty and comfortable in your hand. The whole thing is beautifully made, nicely packaged and will last years. Hence the price - it isn't the cheapest but it will pay dividends, if you wash it by hand and store it correctly (no bunging it in drawers!). Very impressive.
