Q: Is this price for Real????

You cannot buy a Rolls Royce and expect to pay Kia prices. Yes, the price is for real, and IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY, especially if you wind more than one skein of yarn a year.

Q: How many times does the winder go around per crank? i'm trying to determine if the NKK is more efficient than the ball winder i have now.

More info from the manufacturer: The other thing that makes our ball winder unique is the power and leverage of the handle and gear system. By using positively engaged gears as opposed to belts, we get no slippage. The handle is special because of its size and shape. The ball end allows you to transfer energy while gripping it from various angles. Winding yarn on our HDBW is like driving a luxury sedan compared to driving an underpowered 1965 VW bug when you comare it to the plastic winders. Plus, you can easily ad a motor drive. It is the only ballwinder in the World that can be used in that manner. Manual or electric , it doesn't matter, it is the finest ball winder system available. Try it and you will see!

Q: Would i be able to wind 6 ply jute on this by chance?

I can wind a one pound skein of knitting worsted and it all just about fits. I don’t know the volume of the jute so I’m not sure and the jute would have to fit thru the wire ‘bail’ that guides the yarn as it winds. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Q: how much yarn can the winder with a cone adaptation handle? I need a solution to hold a sweater's worth in one go--1300 to 1700 yards in dk.

I have used it to wind approximately 1,200 yards in dk. It might go bigger. I found the larger pull ball was easily tangled when I got to the yarn on the outside because the diameter was so large.
