Great for training
The butterfly knife is a good trainer and won’t hurt you unless you drop it because its heave, it can preform all tricks and you can customize the tightness of the screws, all functions work (bottle opener, metal bender ...) and feels very smooth.

good trainer knife for teenage
bought this for my son as he wants to learn some tricks of opening and closing the butterfly knife. So far, he loves it. the handles are unequal and curved. the locked end became loose after couple use but could be fit by applying a small o-ring to it. Otherwise, it's just what you expect, it does have some weight to it. So far after a week of practice, and some drops, it is still in a good condition. will update later if anything happen.

Hefty, sturdy feeling, comes with spare screws and a tool
This was my first balisong trainer, so I honestly didn't know what to expect. I bought this to familiarize myself with the shape before even thinking about getting the real thing.Right off the bat, this thing is rather hefty, which is a good thing! It's not super heavy, but the weight is definitely realistic, and said weight gives it momentum for flipping. The handles are one piece of milled aluminium, if I had to guess. A torx wrench is included to loosen and tighten the pivot screws as needed. The latch is spring loaded, which is nice. That way it doesn't get in the way of closing it. If you're like me and never used a trainer before, I highly suggest wearing an impact resistant glove from the hardware store so you don't bruise your hands. It's very unpleasant when it WHACKS your bare hand.Having dropped this a few times, the pivots are a bit deformed, but not to the point where it negatively impacts it's ability to open or close, and the paint has chipped here and there, which I blame myself for entirely. If you're just starting out with no prior experience, I HIGHLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO FLIP THIS OVER A HARD FLOOR. Flip it on your bed or while standing on a soft surface like grass so you don't damage the handles like I have. The following are entirely subjective and based on my limited experience with this. Your Mileage Will Vary.Overall build quality: 4.5/5Flip-ability: 5/5Appearance: 5/5Would I recommend this as a gift? Yes, especially to a knife lover who lives in a state that doesn't allow actual butterfly knives.
