Some of the info is slightly designed for someone who has an “already” understanding of Bob O. teachings. Digital era with Daw’s and YouTube videos these days will help you some but if you wanna know - KNOW - what you’re doing it’s a MUST READ. I bought the 3rd Edition to complete my Bob O. Collection. It’s almost the same info as the 4th just slightly aged.Mixing is as art and I believe it can’t be technically TAUGHT step by step. There are rules. And inside of this book you’ll learn them.But Mixing is done different by engineer to engineer so with that said, learn the laws and add your own SAUCE to it.Thank you once again to BBD for this find and Bob O. For his countless thoughts on mixing and acoustic treatments.Music is life.

Solid and useful insight
As a professor of Sound Engineering (now retired) many books have come my way. If you could get only one book on mixing, this is the one I would recommend. Within its pages you will get an overview of the wide variety of essentials to consider in order to develop your knowledge of how to approach and complete a great mix.The 2 dozen plus interviews in the book include great ideas from mixing engineers with considerable success. Their perspectives establish that mixing is a skill and an art that no one has to do exactly the same way. This will encourage you to experiment to find what works really well for you.

This book really is one of the best books available today for people learning how to mix. The expert quotes from established professional engineers serve to provide valuable insight into how professionals approach mixing. The step by step sections provide a solid foundation covering every detail of a mix. I use this book with my students in the classroom all the time. It has a wealth of information everything from mix prep and mix styles to 5.1 mixes. If you take the time and apply the techniques to your mixes your mixing abilities will definitely improve. The book has made a huge difference for my students as well as myself!

Great read. Covers a lot of ground.
Gives you a lot of insight of the mixing environment and has great interviews from awesome audio engineers. Great read for aspirering mixing engineers.

Fantastic
I read this as I had started using and learning Ableton DAW software. Now everything makes more sense. So glad I read it. It is well explained and clear to understand. Will keep revisiting different sections as I keep advancing. Highly recommended.

Filled with Gems, the interviews rock!
Fantastic resource, part 2 is AWESOME hearing from the best mixing engineers in history. The real guys who did the Beatles, Stones, Floyd, Elton John, MJ, Steely Dan... the list goes on. Filled with gems. Can't wait to read his book on mastering now!

A must read for anyone serious about mixing.
I read the book cover to cover and A-Z in the glossary. Jam packed with very useful information. I used quite a number of post-it's to mark areas I will reference. The interviews with the "pros" is an excellent addition and worth the price alone. Great book :)

It's a really good book.
This book is up to date regarding the recording industry and platforms to listen to music on. It outlines the connection between the mixing stage and the mastering stage. Alot of tips and tricks available for the reader.

Geweldig boek wat ervaring uitstraalt en heel veel praktische kennis inzichtelijk en logisch overbrengt. Een deel van het boek bestaat uit leerstof en een deel van het boek bestaat uit interviews. Relatief veel informatie zit verstopt in de interviews, dat is jammer. Ondanks dat toch vijf sterren omdat het in zijn totaliteit geweldig naslagwerk is.
