I throw the vase on the wheel. This one is glazed in my Speckled Green with a Butterfly perched on the side. After the glaze firing I attach the flower frog (the poky metal thing) with a waterproof epoxy. Add your blooms and you have an instant centerpiece! This ikebana vase is about 5 x 3 inches. Waterproof to hold fresh flowers and looks great with dried stems, too.
