Good book on eloquent
This book is a good introduction to Eloquent. The author does decent job of filling in the gaps of the Laravel documentation. I did find a couple of items for an errata but nothing major and all easy to see what was meant. The English phrasing used did make me smile a few times but the author's English is better than my Italian (by orders of magnitude) so I'm not throwing stones.

Good book, terrible framework
I didn't get very far with this book, but it wasn't the book''s fault. Just try finding the exact version and sub-version this book was written for!You see, Laravel doesn't hold to convention and gleefully breaks code with sub-version changes. This means that your chances of figuring out just which sub-version a particular tutorial or book was written for - unless they specify the sub-version - is about nil. And if you don't use the exact same sub-version, the code won't work.Add to that, the fact that Laravel can come out with weekly sub-versions and what you get is a maddenly hard-to-hit moving target.I would not buy stock in any company planning to use this framework! I switched to Yii2 and have been quite pleased.

I really enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book. It is a deep dive into Laravel's Eloquent ORM. It takes you through every aspect of Eloquent and even shows how to use Eloquent on it own outside of Laravel. I feel very confident using Eloquent after reading this book, I was a little unclear on how relationships worked even after reading Laravel's API documentation... this book cleared up any doubts. Another great thing about this book is it takes a look at Collections which are very powerful. I would like to see this author write another book exploring the whole Laravel framework in depth.

Greate book on Laravel`s ORM: Eloquent
This is a good book! It`s easy to read, good examples to help you understand the features and concepts of Eloquent. I am used to write my SQL query by hand, so this ORM-thing is a transition, but this book made me enjoy letting go of the control. It`s nice to not have SQL in my PHP code... Lots of good overviews in lists and tables makes it easy grasp the information. All my questions and skepticism where met and put to ease (advanced where-clauses, table joining, delete without really deleting (soft delete), query scopes (because you don`t want to repeat yourself, but a lot of queries will have the same constraints, and sometimes these can be advanced), conversion to array and JSON and so one. The book is awesome, and so is Eloquent!

Great introduction to Laravel's Eloquent from a young, yet talented Italian writer.
This book covers almost all of the aspects of Laravel's ORM, starting with the installation and working through the basic concepts in a detailed way. Advanced features such as polymorphic relations are demonstrated and finally, the repository pattern is explained and shown through code examples. Francesco is rather young, yet his experience and writing ability speak volumes within the growing Laravel community.

Clear, useful and well-written
"Learning Laravel's Eloquent" is well-written. The topic (Eloquent) is complex, and the official documentation is very poor. So this book reveals all the powerful of this ORM. And for my job will be essential. I think that examples found in this book make clear all about Eloquent.

Taster book, not a reference......
Eloquent is vast and complex and like almost everything in Laravel there is more than one way to do most things. This book could help you produce your first database but not much more. Its more of a taster than a reference. 80% of the content of this book is freely available on the Laravel.com web site, the remaining 20% from an internet search of "Laravel Eloquent".I am sorry Francesco but this book does not have the depth of knowledge that anyone who would invest in a hardcopy book would expect. However it is the only book I could find that is dedicated to Eloquent, most other books cover the whole of Laravel and have chapters on Eloquent.

Get it !
A great little book for uncovering some of Laravels Eloquent techniques. Lots of examples and a great resource to have at hand ! There aren't many books that cover Laravel 5.1 - and this one is a good one.
