Although not a cheap item, I am glad I took the plunge and purchased this mighty machine.It is a substantial product and in a good way. It fills the hand reassuringly and is for me nicely ergonomic. Grip is good, and I particularly like that the head can be in one of several fixed positions or left 'loose' to follow the contours of my face, giving me some of the best shaves I have ever experienced.It is quite loud, so best to close the bathroom door or risk waking other members of the household on a Sunday morning (it really is not too bad, quite easy to live with)!I like the cleaning station - it makes care of this shaver a simple affair. The station is quite a noisy beast (it sets the shaver working several times over a few minutes as part of the cleaning process) and then blow dries and recharges the shaver. I personally save on cleaning fluid by manually cleaning the shaver with a small brush to get rid of most bristle build-up, then placing the shaver in the station for a clean. After the process is finished, I remove the fluid cartridge from the staion and reseal it to avoid the contents evaporating. One cartridge can last for quite some time this way depending on frequency of cleans.I am pleased with this item. Yes, replacement heads are quite pricey, but so are all the various manufacturers' replacement cutters. At least with Braun it seems you get a good deal of use from the original head (I have owned this shaver for some time now, and it still cuts cleanly).I certainly recommend this product. Before this I used a rotary shaver for many years and I will not be going back to that system again.

I would ignore the bad reviews, honestly I would consider this a replacement for a wet shave. I have owned all the Braun series and have to say that this exceeded my expectations. You don’t realise how powerful and amazing this shaver is until you buy it. If you’re unsure, take the leap - life’s too short to worry about if it will cut well or not… it’s literally Braun and their best shaver. I would even push the boat out to say it’s the best shaver in the world I’ve ever used… I’m not even joking it’s actually so good. I’m still shocked at how close it cuts, it’s phenomenal!

Overall this package seems good value for money, providing a reasonably good, comfortable shave.The good bits: Will give a good shave with no preparation required. Unfortunately washing and prep to the face don't seem to improve this result from what I have seen. Will shave close - But will take alot of passes to do this. Shaves both wet or dry - Seems to shave better dry though. Doesn't leave a rash on your face - Just watch how many times you need to pass as that can cause irritation after several passes of the same area. includes lots of accessories to make life easier - the cleaning station and carry case are a good idea.The bad bits: The pictures showed a Series 9 pro plus - this is NOT a pro plus it is just a pro meaning shorter warranty and less functions etc. Battery seems to go dead after only a few uses - this is mitigated alot by the great charger stand/station it comes with, but because it takes so many passes to shave, the battery doesn't last long. The unit now smells after about 10 uses. I have tried cleaning the head gently with alcohol but I cant get rid of the smell.Overall - At home I still have to finish the shave with a blade shave which is unfortunate as the shaver is good, but as a travel / quick shaver, this is fantastic! The shave is of good quality but it takes alot of passes to get a close shave, but it will shave to smooth to the touch, just as good as a blade but at the end of the day, as I usually need to use a blade, the actual shave isn't much better. Because of the price though and coupled with the above, I can't rate it much higher, if your just looking for something that you can blast a quick shave with on the go with no pain and no preparation, nothing comes close to this that I have used.

I am not a big fan of shaving but i do like a smooth finish, with this in mind i have been using a multi bladed wet shave systems for a few years before going back to electric. I have used a few different types of electric in the past with the 3 rotary head type being the worst for me as it never got really close and caused irritation (even with the high end series ones equivalent to this) I’ve also used a simple dual foil razor recently that got surprisingly close but did again cause irritation. So i looked at this but with the price being so high I was a little hesitant but eventually i took the plunge and have not regretted it yet!So the instructions suppled are rubbish for a supposedly £500 razor and the razor display itself is also a little outdated compared to the oled screens used on a certain toothbrush. The razor shows the charge level and cleaning reminder when done but now days i would expect better (charge level, live shaving time remaining, head change, cleaning status) the cleaning station is simple and you only get one cartridge with the package. The instructions for the cleaning station are also very poor and appears you only have the one choice of cleaning level manually selectable. I believe the razor will tell the station what level of cleaning is needed but I’m not sure.All this aside the actual shave is superb as you can see from the video i have left it three days and the series 9 just sails through with no bogging down or snatching of hairs it just glides through and gives a shave as close as wet without the hassle. It really does give a very close shave and quickly without irritation, it is easy to get a finish that leaves no feeling of stubble when running you hand against the grain.The only slight niggle is the head is so big that when doing your upper lip you can stick your lip in between the foils -although when I’ve done this it hasn’t cut the lip or grabbed it like you expect it toIt’s expensive yes but it does give a superb shave
