Does What It's Supposed To Do But There Are Some Wish List Items
The media could not be loaded. As a little girl I remember my mom using a coffee can to keep grease in. Well that looks ugly and I am not a coffee drinker so I needed something else to hold grease in. Until recently we were leaving the oil in the pan on the stove - I didn't like that at all either. This can looks good an serves it's purpose. So far I have not had issues other reviewers have written about - namely the welding on the handle and the lid handle being weak. Both are holding up fine for me.I chose this particular model based on what others were saying about the fine mesh strainer. I wanted something that would strainer out the smallest particles and for the most part this does a good job (see video). The two things I wish they would change is the shape of the handle. It has square edges so it is not comfortable in my hand when I pick it up (see video). If they would make the edges rounded, it would feel so much better. The other thing I wish they would change is to use a gasket on the lid. As it stands now the lid just sits on top of the can. This makes it susceptible to spills. Those two issues don't take away from the function. It does what it is supposed to do and looks decent in my stainless steel kitchen.

Works well
Item works well and is not an eye sore to look at. If you are pan frying this will hold enough oil, if you are straining from a deep fryer you better buy a few of them. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that you can find similar models (though less cosmetic) from a local discount store at almost 1/3 the price I paid, but it won't be as pretty. If you don't currently strain your oil for re-use you are probably throwing away a lot of money. Oil breaks down due to oxygen, contaminants, and water (ice crystals). This item reduces the amount of oxygen getting to your oil and vastly reduces contaminants as long as you strain your oil in a timely manner. When pan frying I used to throw away my oil after 1-2 uses, I now get 5 or 6 uses out of the same oil (deep fryers will extend the life of the oil a bit on their own due to design, you will still get a better life out of any oil strained vs. unstrained but it will be more noticeable when pan frying). If you're not worried about paying a few extra dollars this item is great.

Great Strainer - Poor Spout
I needed something to hold me used grease for future use. I got this one because it had a strainer and pour spout. The strainer works great! It caught all sorts of little crumbs from my frying. The oil stores nicely in this container, too!My one complaint is the pour spout. It doesn't stick out far enough from the removable strainer which nestles at the top of the container. When I go to pour the oil, it dribbles out! If you tilt it far enough in hopes to speed up the pouring, then the grease will come back out through the strainer in the opposite direction, grabbing any leftovers crumbs that may be in it. This is not cool. I have to take the strainer out in order to pour the grease out without any problems. This is a decent size grease catcher/strainer as you can hold several cups of used oil.

Oil pot or Camp pot
Bought this for camping/backpacking. Great price. The handle is a bit in the way, but strap the thing on the outside of the pack and it's fine. Cheap alternative to fancy titanium pots, more expensive stainless steel pots, or the questionable aluminum pots. The steel is "stainless," but not the highest quality, mine has a few corrosion specs inside, oh well. Also own two Snow Peak titanium pots, but this little ss pot can go sit right in the campfire with out any worries about damage like one might feel with the significantly more expensive ti pots. The lid is not tight, just sit on top, loosely. The strainer is useful, has a decent size mesh if using to strain bits from cooking oil, and works for straining pasta, but one could use the lid for that. The lid is a bit heavy, sometimes it doesn't come with us. Weighed them all at one point, but their weights elude me now, not too heavy. This pot is good for backpacking if you intend on using an open fire since you don't have to carry a main stove, weight-wise. Would recommend for oil pot or camp pot. Thanks.

Better than a coffee can, with only one problem
I'm a Paleo advocate, and all the bacon I eat is organic, highest quality, etc, so the leftover fat is a bonus. I have been saving bacon fat to use in paleo recipes for a couple of years now, and plastic lid on the coffee can I was using finally split too badly to repair. Hello Amazon! I looked at the stoneware crocks advertised here, and decided they were too unwieldy and heavy. The Fryer's Friend looked large enough and sturdy, with good reviews, so I ordered one and was happy with it for two months. Then, disappointingly, the weld attaching the upper part of the handle broke. Not the handle itself, mind you. The spot weld. It is too late to return it, so I figured the least I can do is warn folks here about the one defect. Otherwise, this is a great buy -- the can is large, stainless steel, with a spout if you need to pour, and comes with a fine mesh insert to separate little bits from the pan drippings. The lid fits fine for my purpose, and I've been storing it in the fridge door. I had a temporary fix with rubberbands holding the handle on to the can, but I've decided to try some epoxy or Gorilla Glue on it after moving the precious bacon grease temporarily to a small lidded pot.

Excellent Delivery
Quick shipping. Was exactly what we needed for milking. Thank you!Edit:Purchased a second one.It was not exactly the same as the original, but still serviceable. The handle is different, and that shape is not any easier to handle. The size too, seemed different. In a side-by-side comparison, the newer one is smaller. Only by a little, but still. The steel of the first one was scuff and blemish free. Thick, as you'd expect for a Fryer. The new one is marred, not smooth (brushed finish is scuffed), and has imprinting in places the original didn't (bottom for maker's mark on first. was clear, easy to read) like halfway up the side and illegible.Still, the second is doing it's duty to strain goat milk like a champ.

Excellent
Just the right size, not too enormous. We don't deep fry, so we do not need a huge jug, but this is a perfect size and the metal construction is sturdy. The lid fits well and the sieve has a nifty little handle/lever that makes it a doddle to remove and clean. Our old plastic one was tricky to keep clean as older oil can congeal a little around the rim and make things stick. No more prising it off with a knife, simply press the handle/lever and up it pops. The other major benefit is that it all goes in the dishwasher.
