Q: I misplaced the instructions and can't remember how to set different light modes. does a pdf version of the instructions exist?

From the manaul: To change to light temperature (whiter/warmer) use the top button 1 st Press and Hold: Get Whiter 2nd Press and Hold: Get Warmer 1st short click: Start Reading Mode (4000K& 100% Brightness) 2nd short click: Quit Reading Mode and Recover the last setting The On/Off button adjusts the brightness: 1st Press and Hold: Brighten 2nd Press and Hold: Dimming

Q: Lamp turns off at random, no visible timer control. The timer function is mentioned twice in the description of this item. Where is the timer control?

In the user manual, in the 4th section which is named "Setting Timer", they have instructions. The unit I have has 2 very small holes between the Brightness and Power buttons. If you double click the Power button, and look straight at the 2 holes, you will see two fast flickering blue lights, which indicates the unit is set for 10 minutes, and then will turn off. If you double click the Power button a 2nd time they will flicker slowly, which indicates the unit is set for 40 minutes, and then turn off. If you double click the Power button a 3rd time the timer function will be turned off, and the small blue lights will turn off.

Q: What are the dimensions of the top of the clamp (how much surface area is required for the clamp)?

The clamp measures 2" by 1 1/2". My desk has an overhang of 1" which works... barely. An overhang of 1 1/2" would be better and more secure.
