Perfect.
I decided to go with this product because it not only allows you to use the top outlet as long as you plug this in the bottom outlet, but it also allows you to plug in and control two different things. Plus at the time this was the cheapest Z-Wave outlet on Amazon.I'm not sure why others have trouble connecting this to their Z-Wave hub, it was just as easy to connect to my SmartThings hub as any other product I have was. Should take less than a minute to get it going. For SmartThings at least you do have to connect a SmartApp called "Multi-Channel Control" to your outlet so you can control each plug, by default it just controls one plug. This is only a one time thing and again takes less than a minute. After doing this 2 new "things" will be added, each one controlling a different plug, while the default "thing" that you started with will still be there and it will still control the original plug. You can either just not use this original default plug or set up a couple of routines to make use of this "thing" to control both outlets at the same time. There are two very minor complaints I have about this, neither of which warrant losing a star. First the blue light on the outlet can't be turned on or off by default, on always means at least 1 outlet is turned on and off always means both outlets are turned off. Other things I have that have lights on them allow you to change the light functionality, including leaving the light off altogether in case the light bothers you. It's not a problem for me because I put these in a place where the light won't bother me anyways, but the company should probably make this an option. The other thing is the light/button on the front turns both outlets on or off, there aren't separate buttons on the product itself to control each outlet independently. Again this isn't a problem for me because I most likely won't be using the button on front anyways, the whole point of these things after all is to control things remotely, but some people might find it useful.I was tempted to go with a WiFi outlet but WiFi can be tricky sometimes depending on how far away the device is from your router and signals being lost and whatnot. I've been using Z-Wave for months for other products in my home and I have never once had an issue with dropped signal or anything of the like. Z-Wave is the way to go.

easy to set up
I purchased the the 2 plug, but received the dimmer, so I figured I ought to review it as well.Pros: easy to set up. Took a few seconds to do the exclusion process, and three more to add it to my zwave network. It works with Alexa (just had to say alexa discover). Works with my wink hub 1. Unobtrusive and smartly designed, it can be plugged into a bottom outlet, without interfering with the top outlet. Ul testing is another bonus, that can be pricey. So is wink integration and z-wave partnership. What that means is the company is going all out to make sure its a good product. there may be some that are less expensive, but without the UL testing if your house burns down your insurance will try to wiggle out of paying you. Another pro, it seems to be faster and more responsive than other zwave devices on my network.Cons:none really. it wasn't what I ordered. But Inovelli made Amazons mistake right.Another angle: So I ordered the 2 outlet switch, and received the dimmer. I posted about the problem in a wink group on facebook and quite quickly had a PM from the owner of the Inovelli company. He told me to keep the dimmer, and is sending me out the 2 outlet switch I had ordered to start with. Customer service like that is rare these days. As I found out in talking to the owner of Inovelli he is one of us. He is a HA and IoT enthusiast making things for our community. That makes these products a labor of love in my view. Some companies make a product to make money. Inovelli makes products because they love and use the tech. They are premium products at a good rate, with absolutely top shelf customer service. I will absolutely be buying Inovelli again. They are now my top preference in this market segment.

Mounting atrocious. Unit stopped working after only 2 months.
I purchased this device mainly for it's range extender with outdoor rating. I have 2 sensors on my garage doors that occasionally become unresponsive in Smarthings. They are the furthest devices from my hub, and my courtyard is between the garage and the house. After initial setup, which went off without a hitch, I moved the device to the courtyard. One of the garage sensors was unavailable at this point, and I did a network repair. The network repair ran for over an hour and I had to stop it manually. I unplugged this device and ran repair again and the process finished in less than 5 minutes. The sensor was still unavailable. I had to bring the sensor into the house and wait for Smarthings to see it (a process that I have had to do about once a week or so since I installed the sensor.). Once Smarthings saw the sensor, I returned it to it's location, plugged in the Inovelli and ran repair again. This time, with this product plugged in, the repair took about 10 minutes and everything seems to be working. Time will show if the extender is actually working and helping those sensors stay connected. Update: after 1 month, I have not had my garage sensors go offline. Extender seems to be working well. Rating increased one star.My 3 Star rating is mainly due to the product's horrible design for mounting. There is a single ear for a mounting screw that is located directly behind the power cord. The ear is slotted in 2 directions making it extremely easy for it to slip off the screw. It's position behind the power cord makes it almost impossible to tighten down enough to keep it immobile, so when you plug something into it, you have to hold the device to keep it from pivoting on its mount screw or coming completely off the screw. It cannot be mounted horizontally, nor is it solidly mounted in a vertical position. If the cord you are plugging into it has even slight tension on it, the device sits crooked. For a product designed to be mounted outdoors, you would think they'd put a little more thought into the mounting design.Update: after 2 months (almost to the day) the unit stopped responding. It would not turn on the outlet using Smarthings or using the button on the unit. Cycled the power and it started working again, however the sensors in the garages became unavailable again. Now I'm back to my original problem: once a week or so, those sensors go offline and I have to bring them in the house to get them to reconnect. I replaced the sensors, but they still go offline. Obviously, the extender is no longer extending.
