Beautiful well made skate but will need break in period to be comfortable
I am an 8.5 to 9 (sometimes) in ladies shoes. I bought the 7 first. It was very comfortable, but after watching countless youtube videos, I knew I should get a very snug fit as most leather skates will stretch up to 1/2 size. I returned the 7 and got the 6. It was definitely snug. Especially in the toe box. Unfortunately for me, my L foot is 1/2 size larger than my right, so getting a perfect fit is not realistic. However, from what I understand, it can take 2-3 weeks of wear before the boot is stretched out and moulds to your foot. I watched some videos on Moxi Skates YouTube channel that go into breaking in techniques. One that I will for sure try is putting a small ball in the toe box of the skates to stretch it out. I am confident that over time this skate will fit perfectly. Watch some videos on sizing if you are unsure. Don't settle for the wrong size just because you are anxious to get skating. I liked the Moxi Lolly skates too, but 1) they are about $100 + more and 2) they are not as well made. Sure-grip skate boots are glued AND stitched to the foot plate. Moxi is just glued. The Sure-grip nylon rock plate is lighter than the metal plate on the Moxi boot and it's very sturdy. I'm not trying to dog Moxi. They are beautiful and well-made skates to be sure! I will probably get a pair at some point. Many people just love them! The leather on the Sure-Grip is also stiffer than on a Moxi Lolly and will have a longer break in period. Happy Skating!

Fantastic Skates!
First time out today and the beige Sure Grip Boardwalk skates sold by Skates Direct are awesome. The arrived in 2 days by FedEx. I wanted to include this info because sometimes with products the sellers change and so does the experience.I also purchased the toe guard from them as well, arrived in the box with the skates.I bought a men's 9, which is the size I wear in New Balance Shoes as well. Depending on the maker I can be an 8 to 9. I debated getting the 8, but I'm glad I went with the 9 because they would've been to small. I wish shoe/clothes companies would all use universal sizes so exchanging wouldn't be necessary, why I don't know? But anyway. The skates themselves are a beautiful suede and the wheels are a clear red. They seem very sturdy and definitely have a retr Three's Company vibe, which is what I wanted.I also thought about going cheaper, but ive found that's not a good thing to do anymore. Higher Quality always costs more, but lasts longer and with fewer problems. So I try and buy the highest I can afford at the time to save from the headaches and regret. I noticed I always will pine for the one I wanted even when I get the cheaper one too.You only live once.If you buy these in the correct size with the toe guard u will not be disappointed at all, I'm serious. They are that special when u open the box. I literally felt like a kid again.I'm glad 4 wheel skating has taken off, its relaxing and a workout and you get nostalgia. Its the best feeling.Hope this helps in someones decision, they are great!

Good affordable skate with a solid build
I had ordered skates from another brand, you know the one that starts with an M... , but they were on a 6 month or more back order and I wanted to skate now so I picked up these. I was in need of a dance skate as all my other pair were derby/speed skates. The leather is STIFF to start. I literally rubbed baby oil and body butter into the insides of these for several days in a row to get the leather to soften up. Yes, they are genuine leather, lined in it as well, but there is no cushion or plushness to these skates. The plate is solid, and even though it's nylon it's pretty stable and rigid. I did upgrade the cushions/bushings and put on a new toe stop and I've been riding on these all summer...AND the leather has completely broken in and formed to my foot after a few good sesh's.Now that my special order skates have come in, I am going to keep these in my car so I can dash out and skate any time I see a nice spot. They are a good second pair or backup set of skates. Maybe you want an inexpensive park setup? These would fit the bill! These also run a tad big, I am a ladies 9 Wide or 9.5, and I ordered these in a 7 and they fit like a dream (after stretching). So, order down 2 full sizes if you are a lady (mens sizing) and use some sort of suede conditioner to help these break in faster.Enjoy!

Sizing can be tricky. You may need 2 sizes down and replace the insole
The sizing can be tricky. I’m a women’s 9 so had an 8 in these skates for months. I was professionally fitted at a skate shop so trusted that this was the correct size for me. I was a newbie at the time and didn’t know how skates should feel! I ended up selling them because as they broke in my heel was slipping and my foot was sliding around more, causing friction on my tailors bunion. But I really loved these skates. They are QUALITY for the price. Seriously. This is probably the best skate you can get for the price…a high quality, durable suede boot with a stitched heel and great hardware. I really wanted to make them work.So I ordered a 7 from Amazon, hoping that with the break in magic of suede a tighter fit would end up working. Well, my heel no longer slipped but my toes were crushed. I then had the brilliant idea to remove the insole. Wha-la! They fit beautifully! Something about the arch of the insole pushed my foot forward too much. So I went to the shoe repair shop and he hooked me up with a flat, cushioned insole. Finally, I have made these skates work for me. It was worth the journey.

Great fit and solid skates!
These are solid skates! My sister and I took up skating after seeing so many people jam skating at a park where we were picnicking. She jumped online immediately and got herself a pair of cheap $40 skates if an unknown brand. They work okay for her, except the tongues on hers keep slipping down.I had more of a hard time finding skates for me in men’s sizes. After months of searching, reviewing, and watching YouTube videos, I finally decided that Sure Grips would be the best suited for me. They’re not the cheapest skates, but definitely worth the price tag! They’re sturdy, feel good on my wide flat feet, and their tongues stay in place, unlike my sisters! The wheels also feel good too skating around in smooth pavement and tennis courts! It estimated these were going to arrive in 2-3 weeks, but they hit my doorstep in about 5 days instead! Bonus!Definitely pleased with these and can’t wait to get better at jam skating!
