Hi Jessica, The bed washes and dries pretty easy. Just take out the inner stuffing bag and wash away. The only thing that I had to do last year was to replace the zipper around the bed. The original one didn't last very long. Took it to a taylor and had them replace it with sleeping bag size zipper. Works great! Take it easy, Tom Reyes

You can get by with a large but my 50 lb mixed breed likes the snuggle quality of the extra large. See my review for the pictures of both my dogs on the extra large size for a better perspective.
