Stories of Dragons

My kids LOVE books from this series. I purchased over time ALL the Level ONE series with CD for travel fun in the car or before bed at night. I started with the Stories of Robots and the collection grew from there. I knew that to get my kids to enjoy reading it HAD to give them something better then what they could view on TV. These books are/were that "better" option. Highly recommend especially with the much valued CD.

Dissapointed.I thought this was a reprint of the original (which I loved so much as a kid that when I saw this I thought I'd buy it for my boys) but it's not. The stories have been watered down and a lot of the action has been substituted to get rid of the acts of dragon slaying depicted so well in the book. (I've included the notable missing image/story section)The Lampton worm used to get his head chopped off by a knight in spiked armour - now it is frightened off by another vegetarian dragon. Violent? Maybe - but there's fairy tales with a lot worse in them.What a shame.

The new version is nothing compared to the original. It’s a cut and paste version, the print doesn’t look very professional, the stories are altered and the text modified. This version is Disappointing , luckily I found an original copy in great condition.

I used to read this book as a kid and loved it so I thought I'd buy it to read to my son. I was highly disappointed when I started reading as the stories have been changed and made all bloody PC! The Lampton Worm, my fav story has been turned into some pathetic tale where the boy goes to find a dragon who basically roars at the worm and scares it away. Wheres the spiked armor? Where the fight against the worm? Luckily I found the 1979 version I used to read for £1. Buy that version, not this PC rubbish!

Great book for first independent reading. My six year old son picked it up when he was 'bored' and since then is more enthusiastic about reading... Much more exciting than the Biff and Chip books you get from school. Contain 4 stories about dragons. Good quality hardback with a very useful attached cord bookmark.
