If you're looking for a lantern that will survive a covered-wagon trip across country to join a gold rush, then this isn't what you need. It probably wouldn't survive the first few miles.If you're looking for a lantern to cast a wonderful glow on your patio then this is ideal. It looks great.I found it easy to fill with oil (citronella); easy to light; easy to turn light up or down; easy to replace wick; and easy to replace the glass globe after I broke it. When I say "easy", I mean easy for such an inexpensive item.

Pay attention to fuel level markers... Some people complain of fuel leaking... They will leak if you over fill them... Follow the recommended fuel level and keep them upright and fuel doesn't leak...

the hinge that holds the globe falls off very easily. I love oil lamps and have a couple hanging in my room. This makes a great light to have during the night. Not too bright but perfect go about normally.

I actually read the reviews and decided that for the 40 percent off price it can't be that bad. I was wrong. It really is junk. I own a bunch of cheap PRC made oil lanterns, even another V&O brand one. None are this flimsy. The top was bent in packaging or shipping. The filling spout was defective from the assembly line. The metal is paper thin. The cap feels like it will strip the spout out if I try it more than once. The lift mechanism is easily bent and also requires too much pressure. The paint job missed spots. In other words, all the negative reviews are true. If I picked it at a yard sale and the seller was asking only one dollar, I'd still put it down and walk away.

Cheap product = Cheap Price!You cannot replace the wick, once the one that is in there has been removed, the mechanism will not take another one no matter how you try to load it.If you are looking for a short-term use then this would be a fine product. 2 stars because its pretty much disposable.I used Citronella Oil in them and it burns fine.

This one has design changes that make it better, handle is not just a loop of wire and the tank will not leak and the are joints, also tighter fit in components, will light up a 30x30 room, best buy in lamps in a wile , this has become the favorites of the collection, better then vintage.

Pro: Low cost, even burning, light-weight, attractive from a distance.Con: Made of thin stamped steel, with a very flimsy feel. I ordered two, and both were slightly bent at the junction where the chimney sits on top of the fuel tank. Lighting this without burning your fingers and/or sooting up the glass requires incredible dexterity (more than I have). The fuel cap is also very lightly built, and will easily strip if you're not careful screwing it on.Other: This is purely for light duty, and doesn't look like it will be long lasting. If you have only occasional power outages and want something besides candles for temporary light, this will work. Otherwise, look for something more sturdy (and expensive!)

Appears to be well made. No issues getting it to work. Follow the instructions.

If you want it for looks go ahead, but if you want it to use don't bother. Doesn't burn right and the adjustment wheel doesn't work so kinda pointless. Save ya money.
