An incredibly relatable novella!
I have been a fan of Kimberla Lawson Roby since I was a teen. I love how I was able to oddly relate to both characters, Simone and Traci.I grew up in poverty similar to Simone. But, instead of copying others I was determined to create a life that is the absolute opposite of the life I was raised in.I have experienced a few copy cats similar to Traci and have had people tell me the same thing that Traci felt. That maybe she just admires me. But, bring that I have been blessed with the spirit of discernment I knew a otherwise. If you are looking to read a book that is profoundly relatable and is an interesting read. You wonโt regret reading, โCopycatโ.

Creepy
Simone took the saying 'imitation is the sincerest form of flattery' to new heights. She was truly in need of help since she didn't recognize what she was doing nor learn anything from her past experiences. I was creeped out by her actions and by the fact that Traci didn't withdraw from her sooner.I loved that the author used her profession and Traci's book as backdrops for the story. I thought the book ended too soon; I would have loved to witness the change in Simone once she got help and recognized herself.

Copycat
It was a good book and thought provoking. It made one think about who they are. A reminder that we are all loved by God as individuals

A truly delightful read! Each chapter I read left me eager to get to the next anticipating what Simone would do next! I was SMH throughout the entire book!

Nice story
This author truly has talent. I've read many of her books and never been disappointed. The main character in this story (Simone) is a bit scary. Is it possible that you can delude yourself that well, that you don't even notice that you are the copycat? If was hard to feel sympathy for Simone, because most of the time I was very annoyed with her.

An unusual topic which bears reflection.
This book is a departure from the Curtis Black series, so in that case it was a welcome change. However, I thought the story was rather far fetched. Perhaps because I'm at an advanced age it seemed unbelievable to me. I could not relate to anyone I know now or have ever known who was similar in personality and character as Simone. I do know some Christian folks who are always looking for the good in situations or people. However, they are wise enough to examine more closely, and much sooner that Traci did. I felt badly about Simone's miserable childhood and regretted that she could not see anything wrong with herself that might lead her to therapy. She needed to do that before even thinking about marriage counselling. I felt that Chris was more vindictive than necessary and yet I felt that Traci got what she deserved. So, overall, I can't say I loved this book nor did I dislike it. I read it through very quickly to see what the outcome would be, Being a short story I finished in one day.

Sometimes things aren't the way they look.
Book very meaningful, shows you that some people have emotional problems because of their childhood. Sad that you can't become your own person. Their is all kind of mental illnesses and some people are just envious. Enjoyed, could barely put down.
