No more fighting the factory plug to drain the water heater!
The drain plug on the Dometic water heater in my RV is behind a heat shield which makes it a pain to drain at the end of the season. The last time it got taken out the maintenance dept at the dealership had removed it to drain the lines. When I took the plug out, I found it cross-threaded. Fortunately, it only messed up the plug and not the tank. That is when I decided to get this. Should be standard issue. No more fighting to get the plug out or back in, no worries about cross-threading or leaks. Just get one! You'll thank me later.

I know it's better to have an anode rod where this screws in but I'd rather drain my hot water heater after each trip and this will speed things up

Would not work, threads are not cut properly and would not seal in tank
The reducer bushings were not made proper for the tank drain bore. The thread pitch on the reducers was too thick and it would not thread in far enough thus allowing the fitting to seal plus the nut on the fitting was metric. Not a good fit

Perfect fix on the hot water heater and easy
I paid a man $300 to replace one and it failed in 24 hours. I bought this metal one and put it in myself and have not had another problem.

Perfect fit
Perfect fit for Atwood gas/electric H/W heater. Why would you NOT do this for ease of winterizing your RV. Just turn the valve to drain. Even includes Teflon tape.
