Good Breathing
Dr Stephen is obviously passionate about pulmonary medicine. It’s uplifting to be able to read about a field foreign to you and understand the topic. During the pandemic we have read so much about the fragility of our lungs, it’s encouraging to read that there are brilliant people studying and seeking solutions so that we might take better care of our lungs in this polluted world. Very well written and informative book about the importance of our lungs
As someone that doesn’t know much about the respiratory system or medical terms in general I can say this book is so well written that even I could understand it and learn a lot about the importance of our respiratory system. Furthermore, this book not only talks science but also teaches us many facets about our lungs for example the history of the respiratory system.

Not enough about lungs; too much about lung diseases
If you are going to talk about the lungs, of course you need to speak of the ailments which beset them. But this book does too much of the latter and not the former. So one hears plenty of heart rending stories of victims and their ailments (and some of the history of addressing those ailments), but less than one would have wanted about the fascinating details of the lung as an organ. In short, this is an OK book but one which disappoints expectations.

This book is very well written. Highly informational with research from the past and how it relates to pulmonary diseases of today. From the evolution of lungs to everything that can effect how well we can take care of this vital organ. Has me hooked.

Fabulous read, like having the handbook for our lungs
This is not your run of the mill book on lungs, and with asthma and a deficient immune system--I read a lot of them. This is like the handbook every human should have about their lungs. Maybe if I'd read it 45 years ago, I'd have been kinder to mine. From the why we have lungs, to the way they function or disfunction the authors take the reader through diseases history and why it happened back then (and still now).If you breathe, read this book. Easy, fast read that will take your breath away!!!
