The Last Duel: Now a major film starring Matt Damon, Adam Driver and Jodie Comer

A great snapshot of history.
I love history brought to life like this, and on the whole, it's a tight volume, with little waffle - as some historical accounts are wont to do - and rattles along nicely. There are a few minor issues I have with it, and to save any spoilers, I've put these in the comments below. Nevertheless, I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in the stories that come out of history. It wasn't the last medieval duel, though, by the way, and the author himself states as such, so it's a curious title. It was the last duel sanctioned by the Paris Assembly. Other duels took place in Brittany and in Burgundian Flanders. So there.

Fascinating
I bought this for my husband because he'd been an extra in the film (Monk N° 8). He devoured it and has been talking about it ever since and (I'm sorry to say, from a sales point of view), lending it to his friends. It is a true story and much more interesting than the film. Our children recently moved to Carlisle which was also featured in the book (not the film), so he regaled us with historical facts as we went around the city. I still have yet to read it, but from his reaction, I think it was a good purchase.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed this book very much. No complaints even though it was a used one, very good condition though.
