Newman's OwnChicken & Brown Rice Formula For Dogs, 12.7-Ounce Cans (Pack Of 12)

This is a great dog food that my dogs love and is healthy for them. My only con is the price for it here. I can get it for a dollar cheaper at the grocery store.

I can't find Neuman's chicken and rice canned dog food at my local market anymore, but I found it on Amazon. Great price for a case of 12.

Dogswell Vitality Jerky Treats for Dogs, Salmon Flavor is stinky fishy smell but my dog loves it! It is all natural and I figure she can get some of her Omega 3s. I use it during our walks, when we practice commands in the backyard, and when I want her to go in her crate. I usually limit 5-6 pieces of either this or the Cadet Duck Breast Jerky per day.The only human food that she gets as a treat s a sliver of apple of cucumber, salmon, a cooked egg, or a piece of cheese. This is occasional. She is a 50 pounds 5 year old Chow 25% , Boston Terrier 25% , and the rest Doggo Argento, Sharpei, Pit, Bull terrier mix. Yup her grandparents were hippies in the 60's so obviously they were very promiscuous :) She looks like a Lab/shepherd mix her DNA test picked these breeds. I rescued her 2.5 years ago.She is a picky eater especially her wet food. Since the only meat I eat is salmon, I thought I would make that her main protein source. I did a bit research of research and found that wolves do eat salmon in Alaska; the bears catch the salmon and the wolves scavenge on what's left behind.I wanted to feed her really premium dog food. Dog food with Salmon as the first ingredient and not just meal and fillers. I chose Blue Buffalo Basics - Salmon and potato for her dried food + Blue Buffalo Basics - Salmon wet food. I would take 1 cup of the dried food and add 6 ounces of the wet food. I tried adding broth. I tried adding 6 ounces of human pink salmon. She would take a bite here and there , She would eat the whole thing but it would take her hours. By then there would flies and ants all over her bowl. So finally after two years I decided to try a non-salmon wet food.I bought Paul Newsman's brand organic chicken formula which she kind of liked and then I discovered Trader Joe's Chicken Chunks that she loves. I use the same amount of 6 ounces of the wet food with her dried food. It's 1/2 of the price of other products, it has all natural ingredients, and she licks her bowl clean in 5 minutes flat. I am one happy Papa now!Please note I don't over feed her so that she has a long healthy life. She is healthy, has a shiny coat, and is maintaining her 50 pound girlish figure. I don't want her to get hip problems when she gets older.

I offered my lab mix his new DRY dog food yesterday. He refused it. It was one of the Newman's Own dry dog food. No matter what I did, telling him it was a treat, holding some of it in my hand, breaking some of the in two so he might get a bit of aroma from it, nothing worked!Then I read one of the previous reviews that talked about a dog or dogs having the same reaction until they mixed it with the canned food.I had also bought some of the canned food for my large, slow-eating, finicky eater, so I decided to try adding some of it to the dry food. I opened up the can, noticed that he was standing by me all of a sudden, mixed it in with the dry food, and gave it to him.Next thing I knew, the bowl was empty. But then I heard him licking the bowl, the bowl being drug all over the utility room floor!Now, a few minutes later, he is telling me in no uncertain terms, that he wants MORE! That is an unusual reaction for him. He doesn't get more right now because he had quite a bit.I'm grinning all over because this worked out so well for him. He's an older dog with somewhat fragile teeth, and I'm glad he's happy.EDITED the next morning to say that he ate way too much and kept me awake all night because he needed to go out. I'll have to use better judgement for him than he is obviously able to use for himself regarding portion control. I should have added only enough of the canned food to give the dry food the taste he wanted. The whole can was WAY TOO MUCH for his system when combined with the amount of dry food he ate with it. Portion Control. I will have to keep reminding him, or in this case, I will have to make those decisions for him. He would never know when to stop if I left it up to him. EDITED weeks later to say that PORTION CONTROL has worked well. He really loves these little cans, better than treats, and he loves treats!

We are really skeptical about all dog food. Hearing about poisons, euthanasia meds and other bad stuff even with main brands. There is trouble within the Newman brand but I hope it doesn't affect the quality. But this does not smell good nor look good. Not what we would expect from a company like this. Our puppy eats it but she's not that excited about it. We usually make her food with chicken and vegetables but needed something when that runs out and we have to make it. Still looking...
