Much better alternative than the plastic cones!
I bought this Comfy Cone size XL recently for my 100 + pound malamute due to a hotspot on his back. We love this cone, and it is SO much better than the alternative plastic ones. The pros:The Comfy Cone is soft, but it has structure to it so that the cone does not droop over the pets face. The cone is super easy to adjust! There are multiple neck sizes you can use with this cone and the cone is reinforced with velco for easy placement and removal. When using the plastic cone, we had to pull hard to get his head out when we were to give our pup a break, now it's super easy to un-velcro without any hassles! The cone is machine washable for those dirty pups, like mine!Even though the cone has structure around the sides and the top, it isn't nearly as sharp as the plastic cones. Say goodbye to the bruises on the backs of your legs and the paint chipping off your walls! This cone is affordable - we saved $10+ buying this on Amazon instead of our local pet store. Our pup seems much happier with this cone than the plastic ones! The cons:The cone can velcro around the collar, but the velcro pieces are only large enough to fit around a "normal" sized collar width. My pup has a very thick, fabric collar. So, the velcro doesn't make it all the way around the collar. Luckily, this isn't a huge issue for us since the cone stays on very well without being attached to a collar.I am only going to add this in the "cons" section because of a fellow reviewer - I read on another review that the cone made their dog sweaty around the neck. Since our pup is a Malamute and has thick fur, I purchased the color TAN option just in case! So far, we have not had any concerns about this cone making him too warm (and we survived 90 degree weather last week!)We bought the XL size for our pup because it was advertised at 30 cm - and it really does measure at 30 cm! But, I think that since this cone is much softer and more flexible, the length is a tad bit too short. Nonetheless, this cone will work out great for us this time because the hotspot is on his back where it can't be reached with the cone on!Helpful tip:When sizing a cone for your pup, make sure that the pups nose cannot reach past the edge of the cone. If it does, order a size up!

This was a complete GOD SEND!
My dog had a major surgery on her ear and leg. We were given a plastic cone by the surgeon that HORRIBLY irritated her ear but we had to keep it on. After about a week of it not getting enough airflow and pain from the sharp plastic interior, we were given the okay by the surgeon to get this cone and it was a COMPLETE GAME CHANGER. Her ear healed up faster, she was far more comfortable, didn’t fight the cone going on, and was very durable despite her running into everything.I’d say it was worth the money we paid, fit my dog perfectly (we used the same size as her plastic cone and it was exactly perfect) and kept her from itching and licking her leg/ear.Highly HIGHLY recommend this

One big limitation, but the benefits outweigh the negatives.
I was sort of conflicted about this product at first. In fact, after using it for the first two days, I had initiated the return process on Amazon, but ultimately decided to keep it. I like a lot of things about this product, but also have some reservations about it.We have a ~30lb, 7 year old Beagle mix who recently had TPLO surgery to remedy a torn Cranial Crucial Ligament in his knee which occurred after one especially enthusiastic afternoon combating the back yard squirrel menace. We bought this in the medium size to make his weeks of crate rest perhaps slightly more comfortable while the stitches are still in. In my view, this is where the product really shines. With the plastic cone, his ability to move inside the crate, and find a comfortable position was very limited. The plastic cone was constantly knocking into the sides, getting caught on the bars, and generally made what should be a sufficiently large crate seem much too small. This soft cone is much more forgiving and less restrictive in that regard. Even if he bumps it into the crate as he turns around, it doesn't knock him back or make loud noises which frighten, him like the plastic cone did. He seems to tolerate being crated much better while wearing this. I also love how it can be folded back for trips outside, so he isn't constantly catching it on the ground. Our dog is pretty particular about his bathroom habits, and this feature really made things go smoother in that regard. In fact, when the cone is folded back, he doesn't seem to mind it any more than a regular collar - you can definitely tell that his mood improves the same way whether it is folded back or taken off entirely. Of course, folding it back gives him easy access to the incision - it's just much quicker to unfold it than put it back on him when he does try to lick himself. However, there is one major issue with the product which owners need to be aware of. The actual length of the medium cone seems to be about an inch too short for a dog his size. His nose does stick out just past the end of the cone. The first day we put it on him while he was still sort of loopy from anesthesia, everything seemed to work as intended. However, on that second day, the dog started to get his wits about him again, and figured out how to contort his body into the corner of the crate, fold the edge of the cone back by hooking it with his rear leg, and was then able to reach the incision. We were a bit surprised at this - he is not a long or especially limber dog. After seeing him do this twice within a few hours, we started using the plastic cone again for unsupervised crating. That's when I initiated the return to Amazon. However, in the meantime, we kept using the comfy cone for going outside, and for when he was supervised, and after a few days of this, he seems to have stopped fighting it. I think that using the plastic cone for a while sort of convinced him that licking the wound was generally a losing battle, so he doesn't do it as aggressively in either cone now. Or he forgot the trick he used the first time.To be clear - except for the one scenario where he used the corner of the cage to perform his gymnastics, the comfy cone has defeated all other attempts we have seen at licking the incision, and we now allow him to wear it unsupervised (though we tend to sedate when we are at work all day). As another user stated, I think that it takes a proper introduction and some initial supervision for this product to work well.Another small gripe - the elastic bands which are used to hold the cone to the collar are too small for anything but a very narrow collar. The do not slide around the collar freely, and cause the collar to bunch as the dog moves around. This seemed to be uncomfortable to the dog as well, so we eventually stopped using the loops entirely. He seems to be more comfortable like this, and less likely to fight the cone, which might explain why it has been working better since we stopped trying to use it with a collar.Generally, this is a great product, but I wish the sides were just a bit longer. It seems that on a slightly smaller dog, it would work perfectly, but he is right between sizes where the medium is slightly too small, but the large would be way too big, and would defeat the purpose of the less invasive cone.

Comfortable and easy
This cone is easy to fit and way more comfortable than the vet e collar. It does the job while being soft and strong. She is able to eat, drink, and even play a little with her toys while wearing it.

Honestly a really great product
I've had several times in my dog's life where she's needed to wear a cone. Before this, we always just used those cheap plastic cones. This time, I finally decided to get a soft cone and I honestly wish I had done this way sooner.Whenever my dog has had to wear the plastic cone in the past you can tell it irritates her and almost embarrasses her. With this cone we've had it on her for almost a week and you'd think she wasn't wearing it all. She's totally her normal self, it's adjustable so it's easy to fit her into, and it's easy for her to sleep/rest in.Would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to keep their dog comfy while they're injured/healing.

Super !

The Best Dog Cone!
This is by far the absolute best cone for my dog, and worth every penny! The cone is made of soft cushioned material that is easily wiped clean, and the bonus is light reflective trim, great for night time walks. I have a large East-European Shepherd with a long reaching snout that can manage to over reach other cone lengths. This cone is fantastic as it is longer than my dog's snout reach, so he's not able to lick or chew at wound site. It is sturdy and does not crack or shatter like plastic cones, plus it is soft and comfy like a pillow to lie down on, and does not rub or irritate his neck. Also, this cone does not damage your wall paint or furniture, like the hard plastic cones, when your pet clumsily bumps something when playing or turning around. We attached it's elastic loops to his collar which make it really easy for us to put on and take off when we want. You don't need to remove it during mealtime, but we do because he's a tad messy eater, but he looks forward to getting his cone back on, its like a special collar pillow and he likes wearing it! *he really disliked wearing the hard plastic cones.
