I am well past the age of his target audience but still enjoy his writing
Kingston was a prolific English author from the 1860's to the 1880's. His target audience was "Boys Adventure Novels". The time period of this novel was in the Victorian Period and as a reader from today, it tells us a lot about the beliefs and man hood traits of that time frame. I have read several of his books and they are all "action packed" and very enjoyable reads. I am well past the age of his target audience but still enjoy his writing. Kingston's books are what I would call Christian Fiction as they are not bashful about the belief in a higher power to help sailors in trouble. This book starts with the story of a father who is Captain of a whaling ship, has taken his teenage son and younger daughter with him on what could be a several year voyage. As the story develops it is compounded with "crew unhappiness". Britain and France are at war and capturing a French ship for prize money could be more valuable than whale oil, if the risks where the same. Part of the crew decides it is better off for their pockets to capture French ships than whales. This leads to Mutiny. Through some action packed events, the story suddenly turns into "shipwreck and survival". I won't spoil the story for you.Would I recommend this story, yes, most definitely. And "YES" it is a story your young and teen children can also read and highly enjoy. The only drawback or negative I find in all the Kingston books is that they are predictable in their outcome. Not really bad, as I think we all want to see good eventually overcome evil. Kingston is a very good author, but after 6 or 7 books, I see the path he always takes. And I think it is a good one.

Entertaining listening 🔰😀
Another will written seafaring thriller adventure by William Kingston about a family on a British 🐳Whaler ⛵ sailing from England to the Pacific Ocean to hunt whales. The action is fast and furious with the ship being sunk, the crew ending up ☝stranded on an island and being rescued by the father. They travel to Australia and settle down there. I would recommend this novella to readers of seafaring adventures. Enjoy the adventure of reading 📚or listening 🔰 to 👍 books 2021🏰👑🏡
