CLEAN BEFORE USE.
In my opinion, the Vmiapxo 8 Pack Natural Driftwood for Aquarium is excellent for creating an attractive aquatic environment. It’s also great for shrimps because they can grow algae and scrape off algae from it. However, if not cleaned properly, it can make your aquarium water slightly tintedThere are a few things to keep in mind when cleaning this driftwood. You can put it in a bucket of water that has been in your aquarium for at least two weeks. During this time, you might notice a white cloud forming on the driftwood. This white substance isn’t really algae; it’s more like a fungus. To remove this white stuff, you can try cleaning it by hand, introducing fish species or invertebrates that eat it. But the best approach is to let it go away on its own before placing the driftwood in your aquarium. If you decide to boil the driftwood, make sure to wait at least 24 hours before using it, and ensure the water you use is clean Reverse Osmosis (RO) water.”In this method you might have oil in your aquarium.Hope this helps.

Smaller than I thought... But good size
These are a great size for my tank. I clipped of and sanded down some edges that I thought might scrape the fish. TAKES LONGER THAN AN HOUR TO BOIL! It took me about 2 hours of boiling with water changes every 15 minutes. I had one pot boiling with the wood and another boiling without so I could cycle the boiling water quickly but took way longer than I planned. Even the last boil, the water still wasn't completely clear but I stuck them in my tank anyway. Must have been enough though because my tank water color hasn't changed much at all. 😀

Perfect for small aquariums but..
I needed small driftwood for my 2 gal aquarium because I only have snails in there and I read that the driftwood grows good stuff for them to eat. I soaked this driftwood for 2 days when it finally sank, which was great! The only problem is that, it's STILL soaking (2 weeks later) and my water is still turning brown. I put it in the aquarium for a few days and turned the water brown and murky so I boiled the wood and soaked it more...I'm still waiting for the water to not turn brown. Any tips??

There are exactly as described and great for tying down plants in smaller aquariams
I am reviewing the Vmiapxo 8 Pack Natural Driftwood for Aquarium, Aquarium Decor Spider Wood, 4"-6" pack of 8. I purchased these in July 2022 for my 37 gallon and 20 gallon tropical freshwater aquariums to tie down some plants. These pieces of Spider wood are exactly as described. They all measure at least 4"-6" and work beautifully in smaller aquariums. Granted, these would look silly in my 75 gallon aquarium, but I didn't plan to use them there.I really like that these pieces of wood have so many "legs", it really gives each piece some character. Also, the many nooks and crannies made tying my plants to them with fishing line much easier than trying to tie the plants to rocks. I did soak them for several days to leach out some of the tannins, then boiled them for about an hour or so to kill off any potential contaminants. Some of the wood has grown a thin coat of algae, but so has my glass and the artificial plants. I simply wipe it off as needed when I clean my aquariums. If you have a smaller aquarium and want a few pieces of wood to add character or secure plants, I would recommend these. The price is good. When I purchased them, I paid $15.83 and as of the time of this review 02/21/2023, they are selling for $16.95. Given the current rates of inflation, I would say an increase of $1.12 isn't bad.I added pictures with measurements, as well as pictures of the pieces in my aquariums. I have the Spider wood in with my Peacock Cichlids. They like to rearrange their tanks, so this helps keep the plants from getting destroyed. I hope this review helps and happy shopping.
