Monroe911151 Reflex Truck Shock Absorber

I've had these shocks on my truck for several weeks and I'm satisfied with the ride and handling -- the feel seems to be comparable to the original OEM shocks. There is, however, one problem: this model shock (911151) is specified by Monroe for my 1999 Chevy Silverado Z71 pickup, but these shocks do not extend to the full travel of the suspension, as the OEM shocks did (and should). As a result, you have to lift the suspension several inches to mount the shock (a problem). As I don't do any off-roading with this truck, I rarely use the full travel of the suspension, but it does limit the off-road ability of the truck and it isn't what it should be, so that's why I didn't give 5 stars. If these last for another 75,000 miles they will be a good value.

I love the handling of these shocks. I installed them on a 2003 Chevy Silverado SS and I have to say that these are "performance" shocks not for off roading. A nice stiff ride that keeps the truck down on the pavement,... would recommend if you're seeking performance and handling, not comfort!

My old shocks had about 110,000 miles on them, so I suspect anything new would be better. The Monroe's were fairly easy to install if you have an impact wrench, and the ride is greatly improved.

It didn't fit as advertised. I had to drill out the bottom ends to fit the mount and the top required me to use old washers and bushings. The red is much better than I had with the worn out shocks, but it isn't great. But the price was OK. Next time I'll look for a different shock absorber.

These work I guess, just not that great of a shock for my 4wd silverado. They just seem too soft.
