THE LENGTH OF TIME A CARTRIDGE LASTS DEPENDS ON SEVERAL FACTORS. THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE IS: **The number of times the cartridge is cleaned and how cleaned, should not be power washed. **In season the cartridge should be cleaned every 4-5 weeks. **If there is a lot of debris or algae, the cartridge will need to be cleaned every day until the pool is clean. **If not cleaned properly the cartridges will collapse. **The condition of the pool when installed, whether opening the pool for the swimming season or the amount of debris, algae, or pollen. **The length of the swimming season. **The water chemistry of the pool. **Whether the pool is inside a screened in area. **The number of swimmers, suntan lotion, pets in the pool, etc. **The outlying area around the pool if treated for insecticides, fertilizers, etc. **The chemicals used to treat the pool; chemicals used to remove phosphates break down the filter media. ALL AMERICAN CARTRIDGES have the industry's only anti-microbial open flow core which helps to prevent algae and bacterial growth. 4 oz Polyester Point bonded media, provides more fibers per square foot that any other media, giving more dirt holding capacity so your pool gets cleaner faster. Because of  the uniform weave, dirt loads up evenly using more square footage of the cartridge. The water passes through the media easily, using less pressure for a more energy efficient cartridge. When the cartridges are cleaned the fibers on the inside release the dirt and you don’t have to work as hard to clean the cartridges. The fibers don’t get fuzzy over time extending the usable life of your cartridge, the media will appear grey, but doesn’t affect the filtration. The point bonds add strength to the media, allowing it to hold up to the chemicals in your pool. The cartridges have a proprietary Anti-Microbial resin end-cap that keeps the filter’s rigid structure intact, provides a knife edge seal, and prevents the growth of bacteria and related pathogens.
