Poor directions and packaging to assemble
Bought this bed for out daughter after reading the reviews. In theory the bed comes preassembled with the shelving unit/headboard, drawers, and side panels. You have to place the two rails to the side panels and then secure the "headboard" to the frame. Once you secure this heavy sucker on top, you are suppose to add the "mid drawer unit" to the base of the bed, which is actually the side for sleeping purposes. Once the drawers are in place, you screw in the "wooden base" aka: wooden slats for bed to lay on top. Add mattress and you're finished...Easy Peasy lemon squeezy. In reality, you receive two large boxes weighing 267lbs. You get one large box and a larger box. The smaller box contains the drawers ("mid drawer unit"), and the wooden base and two rails. Well, the wooden base and two rails are securely stapled to the mid drawer unit with an approximately 1" black nylon strap. You will need some good needle nose pliers and brute strength to physically remove these industrial packing staples. This may have been the most time consuming part of the process. You may want to check your body when you finish to see if you ruptured any part of your body.Once you think you are done, the "wooden base"/bed slats, are secured with the same black strap so you initially say a few choice words thinking " I have to remove these staples too!" At this point, I looked at the directions (which was ripped to make my experience more enjoyable) and noticed they were suppose to have the black strap attached. It's been a while so the bed slats, I mean the wooden base, have evolved through engineering genius to one become one piece. Brilliant. Now that you are physically exhausted from unpacking the mid drawer unit, the two rails and wooden base. You can unpack the two side panels and headboard.Long story long, don't follow the directions to a T. If you are putting the bed in a corner, build the frame away from the corner so you can attach the headboard from behind and use a 13mm socket. If not, you will be be able to reach the areas you need to bolt together and the supplied toy wrench does not really work. Also, do not add the mid drawer unit until you screw in the wooden base/slats. You will need space on both sides of bed to screw the wooden base to the rails. Once you have the wooden base in place, gentle move the bed frame to the corner of the room. If leaving in the center of the room. slide the bed against the wall and then add the mid drawer unit to the side/bottom of the bed. This will keep the frame a tad lighter for you to navigate into position. Add the mattress, sheets, comforter, pillows and take a nap for job well done.P.S. Be careful if you have to slide the bed frame into the corner of the room. The headboard is not high quality and the paint cracks at the seems in the shelving unit. If you have wood floors, I would put pads on the corners of the bed an gently slide into the corner. Just another irritant after you put all the time and effort into putting it together.
