Spent hr trying to fix
The drive had an issue that prevented it from partitioning half the drive I did a low level format/surface scan with the drives diag software and now it works I could have returned for replacement and saved myself the hassle but i like a challenge

Good drives, but you will want to keep them cool.
These are decent large capacity hard drives. They do run hot. Hard disk drives do tend to run warm to hot, but these will run on the higher temperature side if they are not kept adequately cool. The best operational range for mechanical hard drives is between 77 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit (25 to 40 degrees Celsius). Up to 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius) is acceptable when these drives are in heavy use. Temperatures higher than that can result in drive damage and data loss. Make sure your enclosure, desktop computer or server has adequate active cooling to keep the drives withing the target range. It's a good idea to have both intake and exhaust fans on desktop computers and servers. Many enclosures do not have both intake and exhaust fans, so make sure the enclosure you use has a very good exhaust fan that pulls plenty of air across the drives. That being said, the drives are a good value for the money.

4 Good HDD's out of 5
Ordered 4 of these, one of them died within the first week. Ordered another and sent that one back, the new one is currently being rebuilt into the raid. I would give a higher star rating but kind of irritated from the experience. The drive that was bad was very loud from the start. I hope this was just a fluke and their QA team was just having an off day. I have also ordered an additional drive, just to have on hand should another one go out so I don't have to wait for the warranty part to come back. Customer service was very friendly.

Excellent price for 6 TB! Also HGST appears to be top of the line in HDD's
When I saw this hard drive for $ 50+ I could not believe it. I almost should have ordered two! It is 6 TB with 128 MB cache, not 256 but that's perfectly fine. It's true these drives were used in data centers and after testing it in crystal disk it reports power on hours at over 40,000. It still gets great transfer rates over 200+ MB/s. This unit does get a little bit hot under load, perhaps it's because I am using an aluminum enclosure without a fan. My other drives usually stay around 42-46 degrees C. This one will be fine when idle or light use. Under load it can get over 50 which may not be good but I was stress testing it in crystal disk. You can't beat it for the price and performance. If you need storage and don't want to shell out a few hundred bucks, go with this! You won't regret it! If you have a raid and need multiple, that's a great option as well!

Not for HBA controller
This model isn't compatible with LSI raid and IT mode controllers but works with sata controllers

Failed in just a week
Although the pricing is really good, and I was able to get my refund fast, but this drive sent to me have 51000 hours on it which means this drive have been running for over 5 years, not what seller advised (3 years old), this drive failed in just a week and wont pass smart value test showing a degraded health, and would continuously report issues, indicating this drive is failing hard. I would not recommend to buy these drive because it would be a lot of work now for me to recover data and moving things around again.

Runs well, passed all tests, a little older than advertised.
Drive shows 3.7 years of use. But these drives have a MTBF of more than 200 years, so I am hopeful it will keep running for a while. Drive does run hot, 46-47C in a case with a fan.

Tons of storage for the price
Purchased 5 of these for a NAS. Drives are working perfectly and couldn't be happier. Compared to other drives these are a little louder, so you may not want them in the a room where you are watching TV. If you can store them somewhere else, these are great drives. With a five year warranty you can't go wrong.
