GatesBar-B-Q All Purpose Original Classic) & Hot n Spicy 2 Pack Bundle

I spatchcocked a chicken and seasoned each half with one of the bottles. I was a bit disappointed being that this was supposed to be Kansas City's best Gates barbecue seasonings. I did like some things about each one. The original seasoning had a hint of brown sugar which I liked but had no spice. The hot and spicy was a bit too spicy and had no sweetness to it. Plus, it was way too course and had a lot of leafy material in it. I used each seasoning generously and neither were as savory as I was expecting. So I sifted the material out and combined half of each bottle together. I'll see how that goes next time. The pic is from only half of the bottle I sifted. Too much. Also, The bottles weren't packaged properly. The tops to the bottles were too small so the freshness seal under both caps did not stick. So they aren't as fresh as they could be. I have no idea how long it's been sitting in a warehouse somewhere in this condition. I'm not very happy about that.

As far as KC bbq goes, this is it. Don't waste your money on Jack Stack or KC Masterpiece. The original still has a bit of a kick, but the hot n spicy really is. I like heat, I can handle very hot so I think this is pretty good but the family can't handle it.

I was gifted Gates from Kansas City. It became my go to Dry Rub. So happy I was able to get it on Amazon.

Good rub, but ONLY if you grill the meat. I used it and baked the meat and it came out gross. Use this and grill/smoke.

These are amazing. Add great flavor. The Hot-N-Spicy adds a great level of heat, will for sure buy again.

Making deer jerk with this. Cannot make it fast enough so it has got to be good
