These are really nice-looking mugs (we ordered two), but if you have the same experience we did, here's what you find. The mugs have a strong chemical odor. I understand that this to be the case with others who ordered and when we reached out to the company, we were assured that it would go away. At this point, all we have done is washed them with soap and water and we are noticing that one of them leaks at the bottom. So, if you are planning to use them to actually drink out of, I'd think twice about buying this product. If you are just planning to have a cool-looking decorative mug in your home, they will fit the bill! - UPDATE: The seller is sending me a replacement mug for the one that leaks which is a very classy thing to do, so I’ve upgraded my rating.

This mug is made of Ox Horn, in other words, it is a part of a dead animal...just like leather has a smell to it, a horn is going to have a smell to it. You can easily look up online how to cure it and there are numerous videos showing you easy ways to do just that. The horns are already waxed but if you would like, you can buy some beeswax and coat it again, that is up to you. Besides the very faint smell, the mug is absolutely beautiful! I bought one for me and one for my mom for mothers days and we are both in love with these! If you are looking for a good quality product for a decent price, THIS is the one! You get EXACTLY what you see!

I bought two tankard mugs. Both were beautiful, both were amazing to use. One, however, the bone handle has started to splinter and cannot be used any more. We hand washed it only in mildly soapy warm water. It lasted longer than the return window and we really enjoyed it while it lasted. I'll be buying another to replace it - but wanted to make sure others knew.

Some have mentioned a lingering smell or taste associated with the finish, this has NOT been my experience. Engraving looks nice, as does the whole piece except for one relatively thin and unpolished spot where the handle meets the mug. This could have been necessary to bend it over, but still feels a little unfinished and weaker than it could be. Unless I fill it with cement, however, it seems like it will not break at all. Also, this might make you want to plunder villages, so keep that in mind.

This mug is awsome. Great for the outdoor lover. I got this to use at scout trappers events where using period things are encouraged. A cup made out of horn doesn't get much better then that.The finish on this is great very shiny and smooth. It has nice color and sits flat. The handle is big enough to get your hand on or in.This mug is alot bigger then I expected Wich is very cool. It is pretty tall.

It looks really cool. The coloring is awesome. Fits nice in my hand and generally has a good feel to it.Unfortunately, it has a less than pleasant smell to it, and it seemed to ruin the Dr Pepper I tried to drink out of it.So ultimately it is cool as decoration, but not good to use as a cup, which is how I meant to use it.

Bought two. One was large and had no problems, while the other was smaller and smelled like dead animal. Sadly after the smell was in the nose, it made it very un-appealing to drink from either. We tried cleaning the smaller one for the better part of a weekend, (soaking it with different cleaning products) and the rotting flesh smell remained.

I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday and he absolutely loved it. It is a very nice quality. There was no weird smell with it and it washes up nicely. You can only put cold drinks in it and I do not recommend cleaning it in the dishwasher. It holds liquids with no leaking and the overall quality and look is very, very nice. Great purchase for the price.
